Just discovered this thread and thought this would be a good place to share this info. Somehow fuel got contaminated with diesel and got distributed to gas stations around Denver. Based on the map in the article, there are now gas stations as for north as Cheyenne and south to Colorado Springs that have been impacted. Seriously though, how does this even happen?

Colorado drivers still dealing with diesel mixup, more than 400 complaints filed

Costco has been AMAZING and even emailed me I was affected. Gave me a rental car and everything. Paid for full repair.

That's great! Glad they're owning it and making things right. Hopefully others will follow their lead!

So the way this happens is trucks go to fuel terminals to load a certain type of fuel on their trucks then off to the stations where they load that fuel into the proper tanks. In this situation the Sinclair fuel terminal operator loaded diesel into the trucks ordered for regular fuel. There being no way for the drivers to know they received diesel by mistake they then filled up the regular tanks at the filling station as intended. This situation is in no fault of the gas stations or the trucking companies it lies solely on Sinclair's fuel terminal and likely one operator(who I would presume has since been fired lol) This type of situation is *usually* a truck driver screw up and why you only hear of a few vehicles at one station getting bad fuel not hundreds across an entire state

******I did not read the article closely enough. They are still looking at building one in this area. Just going about it a different way!******

No Buc-ee's in Palmer Lake. I saw conversation about this on previous pages of this thread. Buc-ee's has officially withdrawn their application for this location (just north of Colorado Springs). I love Buc-ee's as much as anyone but I'm ok with this. If they asked me, I'd put one between Pueblo and the Springs. Just my two cents!

Need it further south, I'd say closer to Trinidad.

Possibly! Somewhere off I-25 south of the Springs or Pueblo. Not sure about Trinidad. You know what they're known for! Don't want Mr. Buc-ee to become a Ms. Buc-ee!

As a former resident of Palmer Lake and current resident of Monument I'm glad they're not putting it on Monument Hill. There are better places for it further south.

Glad there are other Colorado-based Ags besides me who see the need for one further south. Anyone from Buc-ee's lurking on here? If so, take note! We know what we're talking about!

This was a long time coming and not a surprise. Not a big fan of the town or the school, but still sad. The Dark Horse is a great bar. Spent many an evening in there when I had buddies at CU for undergrad and law school.

This would be like demolishing the Chicken to build another apartment high rise.

Exactly. Traffic is bad and slow enough in that area already. Throw in some winter weather and it would become a total nightmare. Interestingly enough, there are a few other towns in and around southern Colorado lobbying for a Buc-ee's. I saw some articles about it in the last few months but now I can't find them. If I see any more info I'll post it here!

They withdrew from PL because they found water, meaning they no longer need the city to annex. Now they are going through the county for tye same location.

Interesting! Where did you see this? Not doubting you, I'm just interested in reading more. I still think Palmer Lake is a less-than-ideal spot based on reasons above, but I guess we will have to wait and see what happens next!

it's literally in the article you posted.. you were incorrectly commenting that buccee's 'withdrew their application for this location'.

The article doesn't say that at all.

Quote:

A consultant with Buc-ee's confirms the company has withdrawn its annexation application from the town of Palmer Lake.
...
In a statement released Wednesday, Integrity Matters said that there are rumors that Buc-ee's may try to "pursue approval administratively through El Paso County."

It doesn't mention the find water part.. but this article is pretty clear they only withdrew application to annex.. not to build, with rumors of them submitting to county (in the same spot since it wouldn't be annexed)

Honestly I haven't paid much attention to it and didn't read the article. I live in Monument and my wife has been following it from day 1, so it's probably just speculation. Buddy of mine is a developer here in Monument as well and thinks there isn't much that can stop them now that they found water.

All hear say and speculation, I'm not "in the loop" in any way, so take it with a grain of salt.

Looks like I'm the guilty party here. Didn't read the article closely enough. Apologies for the confusion. Also copy/pasted the title of the article. Still a lot up in the air on this issue. No other updates that I'm aware of unless y'all know something else. Still following and still think that there are better locations south of the Springs!

did you see that a season ticket for home games was only $200? Email came through back in early march.. nto sure if it's still around. man that was tempting as hell. But my kids are both in competitive baseball and between each having two practices a week and up to 3-5 games on weekends, I don't actually think I'd get my money out of it lol. maybe in Aug sept when their season is over we could make it up.

That seems like a terrible spot; that area is already a parking lot during rush hour. There wouldn't be a right in right out for I25 travelers.
