I didn't read anything wrong in those Biden update posts above. Thanks to all those that posted. Right now, all I know is that FJB didn't crash the Market, sounds like he said blah blah with no further Market impact and I bought my SPY shares one dang day to early, but I'm still going to make a profit!

Honestly I hope they all get it. They will all survive after news of testing positive, then their narrative gets a few more holes in it.
Good news stocks are still up
Just got off a conference call that had executive team members from across the country. Seattle to LA, New York to Miami and everywhere in between.
There is real concern (and impacts currently) in some parts of the country as expected about the variant and its impact to things. Not that the folks on the call were concerned but the call included risk mitigation to operations geographically.
Should the narrative continue to be bull-horned regardless of where you stand on it I suspect we will see varying impacts economically.
IMO being nimble as a trader is important at the moment.

Just got an email from corporate. It's expected that I get vaccinated ASAP or I will have a "medical surcharge " deducted from my paycheck next year until I can prove full "immunization". No info as to the dollar amount, or if it applies to my family as well (they worded it as employees on the corporate healthcare plan).

The exact words were fully vaccinated, but I thought they didn't consider you fully…whatever until 2 weeks after the second poke.

Don't agree to a single thing. Theres a very high likelihood the supreme court will strike down any OSHA or Biden vax b.s. You might also tell them, anything deducted, I expect to be compensated for with interest. Okay, the last line depends on job security, but they might also just back down if you push back a bit. You can use religious exemption excuse as well.

Interesting commentary FJ. What I'm hearing from all my ICU colleagues is that their counterparts in the North are having fairly mild cases of Omicron with the exception. Being transplant patients (typically super sick and immune compromised patients anyway). Today, South Africa reports 44% reduction in Omicron hospitalizations. Curious if the Omicron story is excuse for market pullback. There has been one mortality from Omicron to date. Remember when thousands were dying daily?!? Doesn't feel like that at all.

My theory is most of the unvaccinated don't run out and get a test if they have a runny nose.
It seems the market has realized what South Africa keeps trying to tell us in that this is a huge case but low death variant. Over their past 3 spikes the death spike lagged by a couple weeks, but if this thing was a harbinger of death they would be going up already by now. I'm sure it will tick up some, but this seems like a big nothing burger

There WILL be variants continuing for years. Each one will be more contagious but less dangerous. Delta was more cases fewer deaths than the original (which is why they switched to cases to keep the fear up). Now we have Omicron with more cases less deaths than Delta.

Mostly just a reader of this post (which has been great and really provided a lot of great knowledge)…question, and I apologize if it has been mentioned and I missed it…but how do you play a stock that you need to sell before year-end to tax loss harvest…but like the stock for the long term…don't beat me up, but I'm talking something like a PLTR…or even ROKU…how do I play the stock until I'm able to get back in after 31 days??? I'm assuming options, but not sure the best route. Sell ATM puts over a month out? Buy OTM calls? I would like to get back into a couple of stocks that I have to sell for taxes, assuming they trade pretty flat…so barring any explosion to the upside, how do I play those stocks inside my 30 day wash sale window?? Thanks in advance for any input!!!
You could buy just OTM calls for a month or so out as a way to "protect yourself" in case the stock explodes upward while waiting your 30 days. Do that before you sell you shares.
You could sell puts more than a month out and then if it goes up you keep the premium. If it goes down further you would have lost some money anyway had you just held the shares, but this way you get to harvest the tax loss.

A scalping idea for you all. When you're trading a smaller time frame and you see an "extreme move" with a large candle that pushes outside the Bolinger band, it tends to be an OK place to fade. Now, you can't be stupid and you need to quickly assess if you're wrong. These big candles require a lot of energy to create normally. I look for a candle to top tick and then I enter on the way down, with a stop at the top of the wick. If you're wrong, you're wrong small. If you're right, you can get some easy gains.

Biden's speech was a big nothing burger, that's good. I was worried he was going to mandate the vaccine for domestic travel, which would have F'ed my getaway the first week of January.
I know this topic is heated for both sides of this Covid bull***** However, let's not attack each other in here. I'm on the opposite side of the political spectrum from some regular posters in here, but this isn't the place to attack each other. In here we're all green (money). Our clubhouse is growing and is the best place I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of, let's not **** that up please. If you want to vent, I'll meet you on F16 and we can fight together until we piss off the right mod and then we'll be in banned camp. I'd suggest not doing it on F84 because the mods there will snipe your ass for 2 weeks if you don't spell Covid right, LOL.
