Another interesting tidbit;

The percentage of shipping cost to order total averaged 21% up through 2014. Since 2015, it has averaged 0.6%.

Saw an article earlier this week in the WSJ about how higher-end malls are making a comeback.

Maybe we are seeing a small resurgence with in-person shopping?

I could see that. Shopping online now you have to worry about fakes, and shipping issues, and it's not even cheaper anymore. I can go to a store and get my product right there, and if I need to return it - super easy

My wife orders these "milk bottles" often for her Etsy and it normally comes packed in a box designed for the bottles with top and bottom foam inserts. This order came in a box about 30% bigger and the missing the top foam insert. I guess they thought the air pillows would do

Better for me to the west of FW. The # of Sunday deliveries are a nice touch. Remember catalogs and waiting 4-6 weeks. I tried to explain it to my kids a few months back…

Had something ordered on Wed evening, delivered 5am on Thurs morning in SW Houston. We really haven't seen any issues but have a huge distribution center 5 miles from us so I'm sure that helps

Subscribe & Save has been scammy lately. "Sorry, this item isn't available - no delivery this month." Ok, well that item shows in stock. Let's buy one at normal price and see what happens. Sure enough - order fulfilled.

I guess this is more of a rant against Amazon fulfillment.

I ordered some books awhile back and what arrived was the wrong set of books by the same author. No problem, I initiated a return and they arrived a few days later, except it was the same set of incorrect books. Returned both sets and attempted to review the product. Of course I gave it one star since it was a completely different item than what was represented in the listing. Amazon rejected the review since it didn't pertain to the content of the item, but instead I was directed to the seller to give feedback.

Ok so i review the seller warning others to not buy the item because you would not receive what you thought you were getting. Amazon rejected that review as well and gave me some baloney about "Amazon Fulfillment" bring responsible for the error. This left me with no way to communicate to others that Amazon was allowing bad listings.

I found the books I wanted in another format and placed another order. the order contained items represented as new, definitely not in any other used condition. Quickly I received part of the order in brand new condition. However the last part of the order was delayed a few weeks.

By this time I figure out one of the books is not in print and basically ONLY available in some variation of used condition by looking at B&N and other book sellers. I finally get a notification from Amazon the book shipped but when I go back to my original order confirmation, it has been updated with a used book listing rather than the listing for the brand new copy I KNOW I ordered.

It's not worth wasting time getting placated by some customer service cretin so I am just sharing my rant that Amazon is still capable of stupid mistakes on their end.

TLDR:
1) Amazon fulfillment coordinated two incorrect shipments to me and left me with no mechanism to call out their mistakes.
2) Amazon will absolutely substitute used products for you without giving you a say (other than cancelling the order) and cover their tracks by updating your order invoice with the product they are sending you rather than the product you originally ordered.

you have to request your data history (and I don't know how they give it to you) or there is a chrome extension that with a single click will csv each year for you.

My first order was in 2001, a cd.

yeh that says it takes up to a month lol.

I found a chrome extension that pulls it by year and puts it in a csv.

I'm at just over $30k for ~1000 orders since 2001.
And only about $600 from 2001-2010.

just for fun, I put in a request earlier today via Amazon. Took a couple hours

I'm quite disgusted with how much I've spent over the years.

4,282 orders

What in the ever-living hell are some of you buying where you need an order a day from Amazon??

I knew we were pretty light compared to our neighbors when we order once or twice a month and they have packages seemingly multiple times a week, but damn… didn't think it'd be that crazy.

My wife has her own account and probably has similar order quantities. One thing the order quantities don't account for is total items; a lot of times I have 2-3 items per order (especially older years).

I feel like we buy a TON of amazon; and nowhere close to your order total.

Are you buying tons of stuff for a business through Amazon or what? Not sure how could do 500+ orders in a year for just family stuff.

Yep. We've had this card for years and just apply the 5% back each month to purchases, when available.

Take 5% back as a payment to your card instead of applying to purchases. I don't think you accrue rewards on purchases made with rewards. Small note that barely makes a discernible difference, but that's what I do.

The data request for order history said it could take up to a month, but it took less than 2 hours.

The "Retail Order History" spreadsheet had 6,638 rows with an order total of $220K. My wife has a separate account, but I doubt she's spent 10% of my account. I would guess around 15-25% of total spending was Christmas related.

Groceries?

In my order history, for instance, I filtered data and looked at the cheapest item at only $0.89, it's a can of peas lol.

We tried that for a little while, but no longer do it. I only did it because my company (a general contractor) built the warehouse that amazon uses for 'fresh' or whatever it is now, and my office is like a mile away, so I was curious how long it took. It took about an hour to get my grocery orders. I only did pantry stuff though, nothing perishable.
