Home premium was 785 monthly. Local State Farm agent quoted $525. USAA has gotten rediculous
I shop every year and I've had them a couple of different times when they were the cheapest option. Same as anyone else*.Toros23 said:
I'm considering cancelling my USAA as well. Bundled home and auto and it's $3k. Best quote I've received is from Traveller's Insurance. Anyone have any experience with them?

Yeah, State Farm is very well priced right now, especially on Texas home owners insurance.
I have Travelers now, Home and Auto for <$3k and it's the lowest I found through a Goosehead agent. Haven't had any claims but my parents did a few years ago on auto and was a good experience with the claim.Toros23 said:

No. They won't do that. Life insurance rates are independent of property and casualty rates.

I've been with USAA for 53 years. They used to have impeccable customer service. My original insurance was thru my Dad with GEICO, back when it stood for Government Employees Insurance Company. We got our auto renewals and they had our vehicles reversed (I'm a Junior). As a Senior under ROTC contract, I was eligible for insurance thru USAA so I switched. This was back when they only allowed officers as members. My Dad switched shortly thereafter since he'd been an officer in WWII.
I've seen the customer service deteriorate over the years. I think this is largely because of the expansion of USAA membership. I had no problem when they allowed enlisted, nor anyone who was honorably discharged, to join. My problem is allowing those related to a USAA member. The husband of my niece was dealing with USAA on claims from Hurricane Harvey. He had membership because he married my niece, who got it from my brother (never served), who got it from my Dad who passed away in 1985. In contrast, my MIL was ineligible because my FIL died before enlisted were eligible. He was a WWII Army combat veteran who went to the AF after it was formed.
I have not shopped for other but your posts may prompt me to do so.
geez... my usaa rate for home is $5k a year, with $500 deductible, $2k wind/hail, and $600k rebuild cost. That is also with their 'home protector' (additional 25% of dwelling coverage, in case natural disaster causes a rebuild spike)Lake08 said:

I'm a 27 year member with USAA and a third generation member. It really meant something at one time to be a member, I started my own account when I graduated from A&M and joined the military.
I've recently started looking around, I don't really want to switch but USAA is high enough now to where I'm not sure it makes sense to stay with them.
I need to bid all my USAA insurance to someone else… thanks for posting this and reminding meLake08 said:

Switch. They don't care

AgWorkers for car insurance has been the lowest price, by far.
Until self-insuring I found Allstate had competitive rates for various deductibles.
