I'm conflicted. I really want to dump it at $1, but the patent news could push it higher?

Total novice speaking, but my 800 shares cost me just under $600 total last week…
I think I'm just going to hold them awhile and see what happens…
If it totally tanks, I'm out less than $600…
Worth the gamble in my mind…

Yeah any price under a buck is worth buying and forgetting imo.

I'm writing 1.50 calls again some of my position to lower the cost basis.

What are you picking up per call? Definitely limiting a lottery ticket. This and Hgraf can move very fast, given the right news announcement.

.05-.10 per expiration. So I'm dropping my cost basis 2.5-5% each month. If I get the half of the position that I have covered with calls exercised against me, I double up, and all my initial risk is off the table, the the other half my position is now free and I ride it to infinity.
Once that happens, I write .50 or $1 puts for the half I just had called away and collect that premium until I get put to, rinse, repeat, wait.
The zero risk part is the appeal on these "lotto" tickets, since most lotto tickets are trash. The Options Market Maker that taught me Options, ALWAYS played for singles and ground out a very comfortable living. Then one day, called "Black Monday", 700 of his "free" contracts were worth 200 fold. I think he made $5-10 million that week.

My conspiracy theory is someone with WWR is buying a bunch to pump it up above $1 to keep them eligible for the NYSE, and then selling.
My gut tells me it is going back down and will get pumped again to $1 in a few more months. Historically it keeps spiking up to $1 like this. I might buy a bunch if it gets to $0.50-0.60 for some easy money later.

$31M shares traded the last two weeks. You think $20M+ is being spent to keep it above $1, when its just now today hitting that mark? How much more do you think "they" spend to keep it there? and why?

You're probably right, but it just seems weird to me that it keeps conveniently spiking above $1 at 2 to 6 month intervals. The last spike to $1 was in July, and the one before that was in January. I had read that a stock needs to get above $1 at least every 6 months to stay in the NYSE.

Not a bad strategy. I'm assuming you're going 30-60 days out?

Been doing the same thing - granted, I only have a measly 500 shares but I've been using it as low stakes practice for selling covered calls.
But, I'm already net free and everything is house money at this point.

How high do we really think that this can go?
I have been selling Nov 3 and 4$ calls
Not much premium, but if it hits here, I am happy to sell out at these kinds of levels for some of my shares

I appreciate the guys who explained their covered call strategy clearly here. For some reason this was what it took for options to "click" for me. Got option trading approval today, sold one contract of $2 Oct. 17 covered calls for $0.05, so made $4.50 after commission. Cost basis is $0.75.
The way I understand it, if it expires I just made $4.50 and keep my shares. If it gets called, I made $1.25 per share plus my $4.50.
Did I get that right?
