H-A I love your takes but come on man-

human civilization and "money" has been around for nearly 5000 years

suddenly we are the VERY END of money?!

there is nothing different from today's society than Roman society when it comes to human nature.

Where did I say we are at the very end of money?

I've said this before.. but the power and compute is nonsense. Sunk costs. We don't value anything in the energy it took to create it. We value things in what someone is willing to buy it for. Hard stop. Bitcoin is no different, or else it wouldn't be so volatile.

Everything that has ever been traded has a bid and an ask. If we ever get to the point where BTC is all mined and the only game in town, there will be no ask. There would never be a reason to sell it. Which means there will never be any available to buy. Whatever your government has is what they will loan fractions of to the people to participate in society. And it would be a constantly deleveraging society. If we are going that route, we are going there with gold, not made up internet money.

That's precisely my point. There's no value to bitcoin other than to speculate that the price will go up.

If all bitcoin becomes fully mined, there is a reason to sell - that is to liquidate it for actual currency where you can buy actual things, with the idea that the price will go down in the future. The ask does not magically go away.

Just because there's limited supply to something that does not mean it has any actual value. Bitcoin is completely fictitious just like those that claim Fiat currency is, but at least Fiat currency has legitimate legal tender and is backed by military, how we are all compensated, and how most transactions flow.

To protect a world currency, you will need a world army governed by a world government.

that was is in the plans before Trump came along with his America First and stopping the consolidation of nations with their foreign wars.

I'm interested in what people think are bear/base/bull cases for BTC? I've seen the historical, and I've seen the boom/crash projections. I'm just curious what you ordinary folks are projecting for BTC in the next 1-5 years?

I ask because I don't know what to use. I've got ~5% of my portfolio in IBIT and don't really know how to project that out.

I'm about 5% Crypto and about half is IBIT. Im basically counting on it going to zero or 5X to 10X over the next 10 years.

I sold half my IBIT recently when it hit ~$56-$58 and started slowly buying back at $52 and as low as $46

If you believe Mallers and Cardone, they changed LTV requirements in the dark of night and triggered margin calls.

On btc I assume? If these hardcore believers were loaning their btc to banks they kind of deserve it lol

I'm not sure that they were loaning it. Honestly, most of this is above my head. But I'm seeing on X that JPM did something seemingly in the dark of night that triggered margin calls and liquidated positions. Not sure if in BTC or MSTR. Or both.

This JPM boycott is a tall order. They are the largest issuer of credit cards on the planet to the point that many people I know approach Chase's CC gamification process as a hobby. Especially the millennials. My former analytics team would create and share spreadsheets devoted to maximizing all of the Chase CC rules and procedures for points. A total Byzantine process once you dig into it with their rule of 5 or whatever it is.

I would just look at it, glaze over, and go on about my business using my one card for everything. Never had the patience or energy to expend on constantly applying for new cards and then shuffling the deck depending on how we spent money. I would be more prone to do that now that I'm retired and have the time but it still gives me tired head even thinking about it.

Guess time will tell. Some of these bitcoin guys are occult fanatics. Wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't know JPM rules.

For the record, I am likely going to downgrade my Chase Sapphire card so can I count that as boycotting?

Im not sure this can happen as easy as people think. Assuming it will happen sets up a major disappointment.

I dont quite put that in the same bucket as the 20 trillion in US investment within the next 2 months category but if it happens I'll be surprised

The 20 trillion is just pure nonsense

Well... I've got a "Yen carry blowout" on my 2025 bingo card. The Fed needs something big to fix the US dollar fiat...which is the real bubble...not AI. Whatever they do to kick the can down the road a little longer usually makes things infinitely worse 3-5 years from now. However... Something that big might be the prompt they need for stable coin implementation. Every asset class will take it on the chin when the carry trade unwinds. Complete reset.
