At the end of the day the season was a success. Whomever replaces Gary is going to have to have more fire, passion and feel for today's game. Everything that went on with the Women's tournament was disgraceful and we need someone more vocal on the issues with the game. I love Gary and hope wholeheartedly that he stays but if a change is made it has to be someone more in tune with the girls. The Chennedy/Anriel debacle proved that. We do not recruit at the level of Baylor, Stanford, or even Notre Dame and I think that boils down to a younger, possibly female coach who can better relate to these players. Gary has done more for this program and the game than many others out there but the game is changing faster than we are as a program.

What was disgraceful?

The complete lack of preparation and consideration from the NCAA obviously. From the weight room issue (rectified after the fact), the difference in testing protocols, and basic meals and the infamous "swag bags". I understand that the Women's Tournament does not have the same draw and attention but it was obvious that the treatment was pretty blatant. As someone who sees a teenager on a daily basis dreaming of playing basketball at the college level it is disheartening on so many levels.

Time for the school AD's to get together and bring about change in the NCAA ......they are the ones operating from the purse strings....the man in charge of this cluster "" is NCAA president Mark Emmert credited with $2.7 million in total pay for 2018 calendar year.

I am sure if it happened to the Men's tournament there would be a different story -

As much as I despise social media, it probably would have gone under-reported or not at all if these kids did not have the means of instantly showing the world. The NCAA is a joke as we know...but unfortunately the schools cannot be trusted to govern themselves to similar standards without a system such as the NCAA...danged if you do or danged if you dont

Well I certainly hope that teenager of yours never has to face a subpar grab bag or inferior temorary weight rooms- THE HORROR!

Can you imagine if all she had to look forward to is a 100% free ride playing a game she loves at a university of the first class? poor deprived thing- we'll pray for you...

Im not going to make any assumptions as to your situation so I believe you have the capacity to do the same. I do not disagree that it would be a blessing for her to get a full scholarship to play the game she loves. But in what way would her having a full ride make her a 2nd class athlete in the eyes of the NCAA? Why should she be treated any different? These male and female athletes sacrifice the same year after year so why the difference? The "almighty dollar" argument is played out..."March Madness" is trademarked by the NCAA but is not used for the women's tournament...why? My teenager has to buy a men's shoe because the WNBA players that she looks up to do not have their own lines. No women's basketball athletes are put on the same pedestal as a male, and frankly that's BS. Im on the front end of the "millenial" spectrum and I despise "woke" culture as much as the next person but calling for equality of opportunity is far from an inconvenience. So forgive me for wanting a child who has aspirations to be something in life and do something she loves...I hope her dreams don't offend you. Her dreams are not about a "swag bag"...just a little common decency and a whole lot of equality.

Wow, let me guess. You don't have girls in high school sports??
I do and have been to the women's tournament this weekend. Talked multiple people on teams, coaches and players and this has been a cluster. Everything I mean everything should be the same for these championships. My daughter plays in high school and yes there are big differences in revenue. These women playing in the Sweet 16 have aspirations of playing after college and are underpaid. Unfortunately they are playing overseas and making double there.

I dont know what aggravates me more...reading about it or having to actually search for articles that are buried under other less pressing stories. This should be front and center for all to see. Unfortunately I see this getting swept under the rug and forgotten about the day this tourney is over.
On a side note, I hope your daughter understands she is valued and her hard work and dedication is appreciated though not in the mainstream media. Best of luck to her in her journey playing the game she loves so much.

Thanks so much! She loves playing and she definitely knows things will change. We will be spending more money this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Final 4. We only missed two games this weekend!

Glad to hear! Unfortunately the Sweet 16 game was the only one we could make. Definitely a fun environment to be in!

And you would be WRONG! I have and have had girls AND boys in high school sports.

I guess we just raise them a little different. Nothing wrong with petitioning for something you believe in, but my kids and I would be the first to shake our heads at this "woe is us" crying.

First world problems. A mountain out of a molehill. What American college athletes receive is unbelievable. I believe you should be more thankful and less indignant. Sorry you feel different.
