I think tu wanted to make sure Vic is staying put so they signed him to an extension today.

He's most likely getting 15 SEC wins this year. At Joni's pace, she'll get 15 SEC wins in year 5, (although our recruiting and roster management suggests it may take till year 6.) Texas will be a top basketball program for many years to come. If they land Aaliyah Chavez, the undisputed number one player in the country and the only top 100 recruit unsigned, then they'll be playing for a national championship not only this year, but for the next 4. If Trev Alberts is content with that happening and the direction and results of our program, well let's get ready for year 4 with Joni…

I'm sure many schools would love Vic, but maybe this move is in retaliation to Trev Alberts throwing feelers out there for a replacement.

Man, he's an absolute loser for having graduated from A&M and then choosing to coach at Sips. What a goofy man. I'll cherish him never winning a title. He chokes in the tournament every year.

you obviously do not know him. He is a great man, father, husband, and coach. That in itself means he is a great Aggie.

LOVE Vic, but the question would be - if they money is there, would he be willing and able to rebuild another program (yes - I know - he's not coming here blah blah blah)? Just playing the what-if game. Interesting timing for the extension when there are rumors that an SEC coach is heading to another SEC program. Secondly, he's older, and how long could he continue? Is there an heir apparent for him? His daughter? Just a fun conversation to have.

I'm sure we will have Joni next year, but if we moved on, do we go for an established coach with a clear style of play, who can recruit, etc, or do we take another chance on an up and comer?

what rumor? I could see maybe the Vandy coach getting poached, I guess I'm trying to think who might have an opening? Arkansas?

Go get West Virginia's coach. She's good, plus she is likable.

On X, there are rumors that a current SEC coach will be replacing another current SEC coach. Most are saying Coach Yo to Florida.

I need to look around. Just never thought we'd be in this position, so I haven't really researched more coaches. I really think Tennessee hit a homerun with their hire. I guess by Tennessee's standards, that's tbd, but that style of play is so hard to guard/play against.

i like her style of play, its like hockey, they do entire lineup changes and keep the pressure on you.

Of course you have to have full roster to do that.

Three years added to the two he had left on his contract, and $100,000 added for each of the three additional years on top of his $2.3 (through 2026-27).

It looks like a we are content with what you've done thus far contract and are willing to pay pretty much what we have been for those results (3 Elite 8s in 4 seasons).

I bet it gets renogiated in a couple of years if his results trend upwards like it looks may happen.

Isn't West Virginia's coach a man? Mark Kellogg

I believe this is his 2nd year at West Virginia after being at Stephen F Austin for almost a decade.

And yes, he has been very successful.

Nope.

He got stiffed by Blair and the AD, and he made a very wise career decision to both enhance his professional opportunities and secure his financial future. He has developed a program that is nationally elite and very likely to get even better, while ours is off the rails, overturned in a ditch, and burning.

Exactly right
We missed our opportunity to get Vic by not getting rid of Blair soon enough. Blair is a great guy but he didn't know when to retire. We let him stay a year or two past his expiration date. We are seeing the results of letting Blair go on his terms.

How many times are we going to beat this dead horse? We aren't getting the tu coach. History cannot be changed. I'll swear: if there were a statue of Blair, some of you would be tearing it down.

Can we not move on?

No chance we get Vic if Blair leaves two years earlier. He got more exposure at Miss St and was ready for the big time.

Until we can produce the cash flow to run a major women's basketball program our best bet is another Gary. Someone with good background and deeper runs with other schools but not an athlete bigots NC coach. We can't ignore why A&M hired Joni. She had the connections and followed Andy and wasn't awful at Georgia…but didn't do much there either. They sprung cash because someone believed she would work out and had decent recruits at Georgia.

Whether they give her more time is a matter of fan support to build a reserve for the buyout. No coach is going to just be discarded especially one that is connected. Look for a Gail Gostenkoers resolution if you want an early exit. That was a very quiet buyout.
