I think the money would have been on us to lose so I doubt there was much to it other than absolute incompetence on the floor and standing on the sidelines.
It was worse in person. Our last field goal was at the 4:41 mark in the third quarter. Joni needs to be relieved of duties.

Fire the coaching staff. Disband the program and Let the players transfer out before the start of the semester. Spend the next 8 months finding a Competent Head Coach and let them build a roster through transfers and the portal via top dollar nil money. No need to continue on with this situation. It's futility on steroids.

The irony is that Gary Blair did a masterful job of building the program but also had a big hand in tearing it apart. By staying about two seasons too long, we missed out on hiring Vic. Granted, Coach Blair earned the right to coach as long as he chose to do so…but he definitely left us in a lurch with a depleted program.

4 years to build your team, to bring in talent. Anybody with a pulse and 4 limbs. High school, junior college, D2, D3, overseas, transfer portal, mid majors, power 4, anyone. 4 years and you can't find one girl who can score one basket within 20 minutes to win a game.

Can't really blame Gary Blair for the AD's incompetence. GB could out coach this staff from his rocking chair at home. The reality is, she wasn't good at Georgia and they weren't sad to see her leave. That should have told us all we needed to know.

No argument from me on that. I'm just saying that had Coach Blair retired two seasons sooner, we would have avoided watching the program start to crumble under his watch AND we likely could have hired Vic Schaefer.

Everyone's favorite stat. This is only the 3rd team we've played that's projected into the tournament at this moment. West Virginia, Oklahoma, now Georgia. In all 3 games we have more turnovers than made shots.

Gary Blair won the SEC and had a top 5 team here in his 2nd to last season.
The argument always seems to be split about Gary Blair and whether he stayed too long or if he should've retired sooner. He built this program into a national powerhouse and won a national championship, we can't dispute that. He did field a losing team that was decimated with injuries his last season, but went to the sweet 16 prior to that and probably should've gone further.
However, he did leave absolutely no talent for the next coach. People used his age against in him recruiting and he struggled to do so his last few years. But even Blair before the transfer portal was popular was able to add some strong talent to his later teams.

It was still handled poorly. The team that won the sec in his second to last year was a senior laden team and he really had nothing in the pipeline coming in. It seemed it was natty or bust and if not for a red hot Arizona team that made it to the natty after beating us it might have been. This was definitely on the administration and how they handled it.
I've been trying LOL. You would have thought after finishing last in the SEC we'd see a change. You'd HOPE after whatever this season is your see a change, but I'm scared to get my hopes up

Talking about Gary Blair 4 years after he retired is just a waste of time. Blair always brought in a couple of transfers and was a competitor. He may have had a NCAA team in the next year if he planned to keep coaching or maybe not. We will never know. Nor does it matter.
But what I do know is that it is a distraction to throw his name out there is some kind of scapegoat for our performance right now.

I think what we are seeing is what we are going to see. I can't imagine what is going through anyone's mind right now in administration. She's going to fleece us for another cool $1.5m next year, too.

Gary Blair seems to be hanging out around volleyball and football more than usual. Is it possible that there is a search committee working that we don't know anything about?

He's probably already scouting. If he's worth his salt as an AD (and I am of the opinion that he is), then he's already talking to coach's agents, testing the waters, and making a plan. No decent AD waits until the final game of the season to start the process.

I don't think scapegoat is the right word. I believe we all agree that Coach Blair earned the right to coach at A&M as long as he chose to do so. We owed him that. I think what we're saying (at least what I'm saying) is that it might have been better for the overall health of the women's basketball program had he stepped away a little sooner. Again...I respect his decision to stay. He earned it. But part of me wishes he would have retired just a little sooner than he did.

Either Byrne or another AD we've had recently said that they always have a short list of who they'd want to replace a coach - for all sports.
He's going to look for an up and comer like he did with men's basketball and volleyball. It won't be a big name coach IMO.
Vandy just took down LSU and moves to 15-0. LSU back to back losses in conference play.
Next up we're at Florida who's led by guard Liv McGill who averages 25, then it's at home to Vanderbilt led by Mikayla Blake's who averages 25 as well, then it's on the road to Texas
