They are already the largest mortgage originator and eating up the competition. It will be interesting to see if they get a regulatory push back.

It seems to be heading to a big 4 situation, similar to what happened with the accounting peofession. Rocket, Clear Capital, Asirus/ConcoridiaHldgs/Stoic Lane, and a few others will basically hold 90+% of the market share for certain transaction types & real estate appraisal management companies.

ETA: That's hilarious that rocket sniped Mr. Cooper though. There was another Private Growth & Acquisition firm competing for their business that I'm aware of. Now I know why they didn't pick up any order volume from cooper.

How is Redfin valued at $2.4 billion when it's never been profitable?

It's been around almost 2 decades and never really gained traction. Its technology was advanced early on and it tried to disrupt the game with its reduced commission pricing but it's just been spinning its wheels.

Companies paying billions for unprofitable companies amazes me.

I get young companies and gambling but Redfin has had a two decade run and never been profitable. I've been out of the online industry for over a decade so I'm not in tune but seems like the industry is still in the same spot it was a decade ago.

Which is not a bad thing but seems the same model everyone is trying to disrupt keeps soldiering on.
