The other sites generally had the same players in the same range, though. So, it's not just Rivals. Also of note is that a lot of those highly-rated players went to Texas out of head-to-head recruiting battles with a lot of other programs who clearly thought those players were pretty damn good, too, so it wasn't only Rivals and the other 3 sites I look at, but a lot of other college coaches as well who held those recruits in high regard.
So, when you get a lot of highly rated players and you win 2 conference championships in 16 years, especially when Bob won 7 in 15 years, it looks to me like Mack simply got out-coached.
To me, this points to Mack's development of the culture of the Texas Football Program. It's almost like they're still in denial. So much easier to blame it on Mack's talent evaluation than the culture he cultivated in his program, even though facts are contradicting those opinions.
