Where to begin...
I'll start by saying that we are definitely planning on going back next year. What you see on TV and hear from everyone hear doesn't do it justice. Not only are there great opportunities to watch great golf (even with the huge number of spectators - you will see some of the best people watching around).
Saturday - Due to poor planning, we went with General Admission. If you arrive later than 10 AM, be prepared to wait. It was chaos to get in due to the number of people. That said, with nearly 300,000 people raining down it went about as smoothly as it could. Once inside, there were few areas where it felt like chaos. We ended up hanging out on the 2 green for a while as we ended up in the front and the big names were coming through. The volunteers and staff were all extremely friendly and all seemed genuinely happy to be there. We had quite a few great conversations with a lot of the volunteers. We learned that Jon Rahm is a true man of the people, he completely embraced the fandom and isn't afraid to use the porta-potty's throughout the course. I feel bad for the folks that had to pee in the porta-potties next to him because you'll definitely get boo'd when you come out. TraditionsPD messaged me and got us into the Greenskeeper area in the late afternoon. Greenskeeper on Saturday is like nothing you'd imagine. It's a mix of watching golf, Chilifest, and a Vegas pool club. It still blows my mind that you have the 18th fairway and a DJ next to each other but they mesh together effortlessly. Again, even with the huge amount of spectators the experience and safety was unbelievable. Surprisingly, with so many people going hard in the booze, everyone was living their best life and happy to be there. We went the Uber route and the ride-share lot was hectic so when we left we ended up walking over to a nearby Marriott for drinks at the bar before Ubering back to our AirBnB from there (I recommend this route if you plan on doing the same).
Sunday - We got there earlier and already had Greenskeeper wristbands. We ended up walking a lot of the course Saturday. We hovered around Rahm and Fowler after watching quite a few groups tee off on 3. We made the unfortunate decision to get beers when Fowler hit his hole-in-one on 7. After walking the course for a few hours we went to Greenskeeper. The food and drinks in Greenskeeper don't disappoint. We ended up spending a lot of our time next to the church pews as we found it the best place to actually watch golf in Greenskeeper. I have to give it to the waitresses as they didn't like you to have an empty drink. Sunday afternoon definitely seems to thin out which was a nice change of pace. We left shortly after they crowned Scheffler and it was really easy to get out of there. We figured it would be chaos leaving but it was the opposite. We walked right out and to lot 3 where we parked Sunday (yes, we had a DD that day).
All-in-all, I highly recommend. We are going to try and get on tickets early for next year. Probably try and go early in the week to catch the ProAm and first round. Hopefully we can get a room at one of the nearby Marriott's next year since we plan on booking welllll in advance.
Thanks again to TraditionsPD! I don't really have any negatives as it was a great experience. Even the chaos Saturday to get in was understandable due to the sheer number of people trying to get in.
Also, you will probably see boobs and some celebrities while you're there.
