I was out there yesterday with a buddy and we had a great time. Weather was perfect with it being overcast and cool. We parked up in Jester at a buddy's house but the shopping center down the hill looks like a good spot to park and Uber over. Uber from there was $15 but getting back was surge pricing around $50.
That's not how the pricing works. Made the mistake of taking an Uber for the family to attend a concert at AT&T stadium. It was about $150 to get there, but after the rate was over $1,200. We walked to a restaurant and waited til the price dropped back down.

Cannot be overstated how bad of a decision it is to do away with this tournament. Surely there is a sponsor to be found. This format at ACC is a match made in Heaven (pun intended). Austin shows out for it every year too. Crazy that of any event, this one will be falling by the wayside.
There were issues in the renegotiation on both sides (ACC members vs PGA Tour). The talks were contentious and ultimately no deal was done. ACC members didn't like the golf course being completely shut down for about 5 weeks prior to the tournament. Per news article: The conclusion of the relationship comes after some acrimonious negotiations over the last six months between the PGA Tour and ACC. The two parties thought they had come to an agreement extending the contract another four years with an annual payment of $3 million to ACC, but those broke down and the permanent membership of the 650 full-timers never even voted on any deal.
Thanks for the additional info. Sure this does ask a lot of sacrifice of ACC members. Was just nice to watch these guys play match play and have it in Texas.
Given where ACC is located and some nice homes around there, the logistics, space, access roads, parking, etc isn't very good or ideal per what the the PGA Tour would like. But the Match Play event did have a good sponsor, good crowds and support there but over time it wears on on the club's membership for various reasons.
It's an amazing course and location and scenery to host a big event. Logistics are difficult though. There was a fairly active thread on here when negotiations began to break down. Barton Creek and another club began making efforts to try and step in and win a pivot but keep the location in Austin. Not sure whatever happened with those talks.

Thing I like about the ACC course and time it's held is that not everything is perfect and green. These guys get some transitioning Bermuda or just some crappy lies. Like when Finau was in the crap yesterday and chunked it about ten feet. We can all relate to that. It's nice to see a little brownish grass now and again.

I don't think it was that cut and dry. A ton of the membership did not want to renew. Ultimately I think then being so split in moving forward soured it vs them thinking they could squeeze the PGA

Whatever the reason it's a shame I thought the event was unique, and Austin was a great spot for it.
