I've had one hole in one. I was 14 years old and it was a slam dunk 7 iron from 170 yards out. Pure luck! I had the hooks so bad that my Dad told me "just aim it out to the right!" So I did and it carved right into the hole!

I've never had another hole in one in the last 45 years, but I've left a couple hanging on edge of the cup.

I have hit six in out of the fairway from 100 yards to 180 yards, including at #3 on Briarcrest. Then eagled #4 to go from 2 over to 2 under in 2 holes!

Got my first HIO this weekend. Been playing golf for 25 years, and I was starting to get worried it would never happen. I've been a 6-7 handicap the last couple of years.

Beautiful sunny day, still early in the morning. 147 yards slightly uphill and into the wind. Hit an 8i that landed softly about 4 feet from the flag and slowly trickled in while we watched. I was playing with my 13 y/o son and a good friend of mine (and his wife). The course is also new, and it was the first ever known hole in one on that hole. It couldn't have been a better scenario.

My son and I were not playing very well that day, so I had just finished talking to him about keeping his head up and just having fun the rest of the round. He responded with "sounds good - let's go make a hole in one" … then I hit my shot.

Just keep playing and eventually it will happen!
So let me guess... your son is 13 so he don't drink. Your buddy's wife is a wholesome Christian, so she don't drink... you probably bought a bottle of water for your buddy so your HIO didn't cost you nothing.

I had a hole in one in a 12 man golf outing!!! **** me!
But yes, I did it with my 8 iron.

Congrats!

Thanks - yeah, the tab ran about $300, but that included a nice lunch for 7 of us at the club (my wife and other kids came up to celebrate too), and all the adults had a few drinks on the course and at lunch but nothing too crazy

Never had a hole in one and it's frustrating for sure. However, I have holed out for eagles 8-10 times on par 4's and made an albatross on a par 5 so that was cool. The HIO on the par 3's are tough to get. I have a playing partner with 7 and another that has made 2 in the last 6 months and I was riding with him both times! I want to get one for myself

I'll trade one of my HIO's for your albatross.

I've had both. I would give up my HIO but not the albatross...

Played today. The hole in one pot is not huge but probably around 600. hit a shot today tracking perfectly. Looked like it lipped out. Got up there it was 4 feet. Missed the birdie. Was not happy.

Last year we had a guy get his first one with 18 of us playing in the Sunday game (and a few others were also at the club). The bar tab was $1,700 thanks to the Silver Oak and other nice wines getting ordered.

I think I would have rather it stayed out of the hole!

My first was a slightly bladed 7 iron that bounced twice and hit the pin dead on dropping in. That hole doesn't even exist any more with a course change. That one was complete luck.

Second was a real golf shot with a slight 7 iron fade, a couple of bounces and rolled right into the hole.

Had a buddy that when we were waiting out a frost delay, he wanted to leave and we shamed him in to staying. He aced #17, so I consider that one luck.

Obi should update his story, he has a better one about holing out, but it wasn't an ace. Probably happened after he posted that looking at the date.

I've played golf about 45 years off and on. Roughly 25 years ago I witnessed an ace with some guy at Jimmy Clay #2 and a week later I got mine at Bluebonnet Hill (RIP) #4. I hadn't seen one before and haven't seen one since. Yep. Luck.
