Yeah I have no issue with him taking the sponsor invites and playing but the hype machine is in overdrive and it's annoying.

I don't know if it's jealousy, butthurt or what, but y'all act like the guy shot 90 today.
He's only a few strokes worse then Colin Morikawa for ****s sake.
I have zero issues with his comments. You don't qualify for the PGA without a "world class short game", and you certainly don't finish top15 and go toe to toe with one of the all time greats without a world class short game.
I'm glad he's playing this week, his story does faster when he's done playing. Whatever happens this week, you can't take away the PGA, and he's going to be around for at least a few more tournaments.

I think it's more to do with golf being the ultimate humbling game. He caught lightning in a bottle and played outa his mind at the PGA. That was great and fun to watch.

I understand the blowback from his comments, but "going home" makes no sense. If you are a local small-time pro, you play in every freaking PGA Tour tournament that you are offered and try to make the most of these opportunities before it dries up. No one expects anything of you and there is nothing to lose by finishing dead last in literally every tournament. And you might get lucky for a few days and make a nice chunk of cash. It would be beyond stupid for someone like him to be turning down offers to play in these tournaments.
Yeah not playing would have been incredibly dumb.
What if he continues his hot streak and actually won? That would be a life changer so you take that opportunity.

And he'll get to tee it up in 2 weeks at the RBC and a bunch of hardos are going to hate that he's living out their fantasy again.
Nothing wrong at all with taking advantage of the opportunities that became available to him. They'd be hard to pass up. He could've done it all while keeping his mouth shut and been a lot more likeable. He comes off as someone who pretends to be humble but craves the attention and now that he has it, he doesn't seem to be able to handle it. Could've been a great "feel good" story but now I'm just ready for his 15 minutes of fame to hit the 14:59 mark.
