Oof. They gave Sam and one of his playing partners today the very first tee time. 5:50 am central and they were one of the last groups done today. Is this random? Pretty tough draw when there's a ton of others at -4 that finished way earlier today.

Now it's by order. He's in the last group of weekend qualifiers since he finished last.

Have to admit I check him out about 10 or 12 x per round and pray faithfully.

So glad he earned another check.

Check me on this because it is late, but Sam is one of only two players to shoot over par today and make the cut.

Needs to go low tomorrow early. Get into the mix for a top 20.

He's going low tomorrow and Sunday. He's gonna wind up around 15 under.

Leaders will most likely be in the mid 20s.

sure but I think he battles his way into the top 20. He's been dealing with 1 bad round a tournament and is probably happy he already knocked it out.

Sam birdied #1

-4 on the round so far. T19 at the moment.

With the crazy scoring out there, he could wind up in a situation where he's tied T10 at the end of his round…and T40 by the end of the day.

From bottom of leaderboard to inside top 10! Sam is -6 on the day. Will probably fall back to the 20s by end of day (if Travelers in a barometer), but he is in a good spot to maybe crack top 10 tomorrow with another good round!

LOL that he's already done with his round. Taking a nap now probably.

There is something about Bennett that has me watching more golf now and following it. He recovered from yesterday and put up a good score. Kudos to him for getting it done today.

I think Sam just has an allure based off his amateur win and Masters performance that causes us to follow him more closely than say a Palmer or Champ. Maybe it's the potential we see in him that keeps us following week in and week out.

Personality and demeanor as well. I enjoy watching Palmer, but you can pretty much count on him struggling under any kind of pressure (and he's at the sunset of this career). Champ doesn't move the needle at all for me…mostly because he just doesn't seem to have a personality.

Bennett has personality, swagger, and confidence. He seems genuine as heck in his interviews, and Once he has some more experience under his belt, you just know he'll have the demeanor to finish on a Sunday.

More than being an Aggie. There are Aggies on the tour.

His story, being from Madisonville - I don't have a tie there but he grew up in small Texas town, underdog status, his composure, potential and etc. he has that attitude of being on the line of confident / cocky. He builds his endurance to put 4 rounds together then he wins.

This. He actually wasn't very upset after missing the cut last week because it meant he could get some rest. It has been a tough grind for a few weeks.

Sam shot 66 today and at -10 for the tournament.

If PGA Tour Live is correct, Sam just three putted from inside 10 feet on the par 3 fifth hole.
