Annual customer trip is finalized.

Any tips on these courses would be appreciated
Day 1 The Dukes Course
Day 2 Dumbarnie Links
Day 3 Jubilee Course
Day 4 The Old Course
Day 5 King Course

if you don't mind me asking who did you book through?

I want to do a similar trip in summer but need a guaranteed old course tee time. The only reason we would be going is to play the old course, anything else would be cherries on top.

Are yall staying in St Andrews the whole time?

We are going on a trip in September the week of the Ryder Cup and staying in St Andrews the whole time.

Dumbarnie is lots of fun. Really enjoyed it.

St Andrews for 3 nights and Gleneagles for 3 nights.

We booked through an agency (ITA Group) which can guarantee the times for a hefty price.

Carnousti and Kingsbarns are both less than an hour from St Andrews...you should try to play both of those on Day 2 =)

Only kind of kidding

Try for a later tee time so that your aim point is not blinking red lights thru the fog!!!

We don't get to choose the courses as that was the package. We can golf or take a "day of leisure " maybe I'll do that latter and try and play one of thise.

Also, any reason not to bring my clubs? A few of the guys are renting, if I am playing I want my sticks. Am I wrong?

Final question for those who have been.

We leave DFW at 3pm, land in London at 6:30AM and then Edinburg at 9:30. Dukes Course is at 2:30 in the afternoon.
Is it worth playing day 1 or just relax and adjust for jet lag?

Bring your clubs. Why fly over there to play and not use your sticks?

For me, I wouldn't play day 1. I don't sleep great on the flight and feel all out of sorts first day. Everyone is different though.

Usually jetlag hits me day 2. Day 1 you have excitement keeping you going

Play day 1!

Bring your clubs!

I have heard jubilee course is good

Don't know the others as well...I think New course is pretty good good too.

Read some reviews on the others and Google pictures

Carnousti and Kingsbarns will be better

Play day 1.

Jubilee and the New Course are good, but there are definitely better not on your list around the area.

I don't understand how a company can tell you that on you can't add golf onto your trip where you see fit. They are getting paid for what they booked, you should be able to slip more golf in if you desire.

Trump Aberdeen is a home run course. Better than all others in the area. IMHO.

Aberdeen is 90 minutes north

That group prob gets access to the old course by booking all St Andrews courses for the customer

Playing will make you forget the jet lag.

I went last summer. Landed in Edinburgh at 6:30am ish and played that afternoon and didn't feel at all the 2 hours of ****ty sleep I got on the plane.

The other time I went, we spent the first day in Edinburgh and was falling asleep at the table at lunch after the 2 hours of ****ty sleep I got on the plane.

I have to entertain customers and spouses so as long as I can get someone to go it won't be an issue.

Play Day 1. You'll have a great night's sleep that first night and be on Scottish time right away.

Sorry, a couple more questions.

Clothing for May? I assume pants and pullovers/hoodies coupled with Rain gear.

Also any trips for jet lag? Here is my current situation.
I will be in Korea April 26-May 2nd, Back to DFW for 2 days and then to Scotland 5/5-5/11.

Stay up and sleep on the plane...arrive early and you're good to go. First couple nights i wake up like 4 or 5am but it's not bad

Download an app called Timeshifter, it'll come up with a plan for you to not be so jetlagged. You plug in your flights to and from and itll tell you what to do the days leading up to it, during, and after. Caffeine intake, naps, sun exposure, sleep.

Did it for a trip to Japan and Ireland last year and worked pretty well.

I was there a littler later (late June), but I wore everything over a week. I played a round in shorts and short sleeves. I played a round in pants, hoodie, vest, and beanie. I played a round in pants and hoodie.

I played a round in pants and a hoodie, then a rain suit, then pants and short sleeves, and then finished with pants and a hoodie.

Went to Scotland in August and Dumbarnie was 1 of 8 courses I played. It's a really fun, phenomenal golf course. I was wanting authentic, old school links courses though, so I wouldn't rank it in the top half of courses we played and it's definitely a manufactured course built for Americans, but I'd definitely play it again. Hope that helps.

Definitely gotta do the Jigger Inn and Dunvegan, but get over to Market Street too. Seafood Ristorante is pretty top notch over on the beach behind World Golf Museum.

We were lucky enough to have some drinks at the R&A which I'd obviously highly recommend, but that's more of a humblebrag than a real rec.

Tail End for fish n chips. Forgan's for a really nice meal.

Yeah I only have done it a couple times for The Open although I did win the Masters lottery and went this year so I've got that going for me.
