not too much, was on the 4th row of the opposite grandstand. The course was very playable today; minimal wind and hot weather. Scheffler just went into Boa Constrictor mode on everyone.

Some other observations. Harris English looked really locked in today. Good for Ryder Cup if he can carry that form forward. OTOH, Sam Burns looked very frustrated and out of sorts. Rickie played great today; but not sure if I trust him or like his attitude Ryder Cup-wise. Gotterup on quite the hot run as well. Something for Keegan to watch. Finally, was told DJ is done at the Open, I think he needed to finish 10th or better to get invited back.

DJ is such an interesting study. 2 majors that easily could have been, what 4 or 5? Partied balls early on and likely let that affect him too much, married a diamond, had zero to ever worry about before the LIV money. Until this week he seemed like an afterthought but actually had a pretty good tournament for once.

Cam Smith is an interesting one as well. I think he WAS on to something pretty dang good; then LIV. Just a (rich) clown in a circus act. MC this week.

What's weirder with him is that he's not been that bad on LIV, but Dam Son, he's been horrible in 5 straight majors. All missed cuts including a 78 or worse in 4 of them. Total dog****

Cam will be interesting. Even before his Open win he was not shy about not caring to grind. Then lately (after the LIV money) he has gotten married and had a kid.

Not everyone is Scottie obviously, as he's attempting to move to tiger and jack status. But give it another few years and we might see a return to greatness from Cam and some others.

I don't think Scheffler's record would be affected much if at all but we are getting robbed of some good showdowns by LIV. Everyone who has left has gotten a lot worse except for Bryson (and who's to say he wouldn't be better if he stayed in the PGAT).

These majors should have some of these guys in the mix like DJ, Koepka, Smith, and Rahm who have the game to challenge Scheffler.

I don't see the major records affected at all with LIV. I absolutely see the regular tour stop records affected. Rahm has played well in majors. Brooks and Bryson have each won a major since joining and Bryson plays well at almost all of them. Hatton is new to LIV but he's stayed competitive. Scottie is just the DUDE of this era. He's going to put up 10+ majors.

But to Bagger's point, a lot of those guys probably would be even sharper for the majors if the LIV stuff never happened. I think it's a valid opinion to have.

I don't think there's very much evidence to support that at all. I get the inkling to want to think that but I'm not so sure it's actually true.

I'm not sure it's true either, but if I had to bet I would bet on it. It's such a small sample size and there is some randomness involved. Just more of a thought exercise.

Of course there's no way to know since it's not what happened. But of the biggest names to go to LIV, Bryson is really the only one who has played BETTER than he did leading up to his departure.

Rahm has been okay but a little worse.
DJ has been MUCH worse.
Cam has been worse.
Koepka has won a major since joining LIV but his baseline performance is a little worse.

This could've gone this way regardless of course. And we definitely don't get the competition week-to-week. Regular tournaments are by far the biggest losers in this deal.

One way to measure Koepka's performance in majors: Between 2017 and 2021 (17 tournaments in Koepka's case), he had 12 top 10 finishes. From 2022 to 2025 (16 tournaments), he's had 2 top 10s.
