PGAT has done nothing for years. See the Ryder Cup where things were just much worse.

Phoenix is the worst for this kind of thing (outside the Yankees at the Ryder Cup). It's promoted as a bro beer drinking contest, so you do have issues there. You wont see it at the AT&T this weekend.

It's a shame because it really is always one of the best tournaments of the year in terms of golf. But that's always overshadowed by the promotion of the 16th and the party and the people running to get there etc.

By everyone involved with it. By the tournament itself. By CBS and golf channel for broadcasting. By the amount of influencers that the event and the TOUR invite to promote it.

I understand that's people's perception that's what it is but that's not the same as advertising it that way. I was fortunate to have a friend with a friend rich enough to buy one of the hospitality venues. I would say there were around 100 people there. My friend and I were the only locals in that group.

A few 30 something, 40 something guys saw my ring and we talked. They turned out to be mostly Tech guys living in Dallas and Houston. They were hammered by the time it was over Saturday. Around town all week and at the casinos younger guys that traveled from somewhere else were hammered all week and talking up their planned escapades for the tournament. One guy in the venue where I was in had on longhorn gear and his pullover tied around his neck hanging down his back.

I would be okay with seriously cutting back on the number of tickets. That's probably not happening though because from Thanksgiving until late April this town runs on tourist money.

Actually I didn't. I posted about what some morons did. You said it's marketed as a party and then said it's implied. Those are different things. Either way it's pretty obvious why this tournament has the highest attendance. The weather sucks in most of the country in early February and it was 85 Saturday and Sunday.

PGA needs to control the alcohol consumption at what I call the "Drunk Tournament". Have a good time but control the drinking.
