Have always thought that first hole at East River 9 with that look at downtown at night was pretty cool. Off topic but have been told the East River 9 folks bought a property out in Katy and going to build another par 3. Not sure if true but would be cool.

i hate that green. easy to putt on, but i had same issue he had. nothing sticks

That green is brutal when you get to ping-ponging back and forth. I'm surprised he didnt try to chip it to the fairway in front of the green at some point and then be able to chip straight up the green.

#8 at Riverbend. If you're on the backside of the green your next shot is hitting the green and rolling into the lake. Hate that hole - reason why it's the #1 handicap.

The problem for a lot of us amateurs is that you're tempted to hit driver to get it right in front of the green for a nice chip up on. It's fine chipping from the front because it's a deep green.

But if you spray it all your SOL being short sided on either side of a turtle back green.

Brutal hole despite its length

That's a great hole. Par 5 that's short enough where eagle is available, but tricky enough, that so is triple.

13 on the card looks to be an easy par or birdie but it never is. If you're off the green you've gotta pull out putter and be pretty damn accurate with your speed or you're putting from the other side of the green or your ball is coming right back to you.

Went yesterday. Hot as heck. Great time though.

But the 15th hole had a major problem yesterday. They had pin way in the back and with all the run off, a LOT of players balls ended up against this new special seating area and the grand stands. The group we were watching, all 3 had to take unplayables against the stands. Next year they need to move that stuff back at least another 10-15 feet.
