I read the other day on a golfing website that the top 4 teams advance to match play. Note in the press release that it is the top 8 teams. The latter is probably correct.

But 4 or 8, the Ags will advance !!

Have a great round today, ladies !!!

Ags done for the day.

Tied for first at -4 with Vandy.

Other than holes 1 & 6, the front 9 must be a real B. Holes 13 in look to be gettable.

Auburn got out to a hart start playing the back 9 before going +15 as a team on the front 9.

Borovilos Leads Aggies into Tie for First After First Round of SEC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. -- The No. 4 Texas A&M Women's Golf Team was tied for first after Vanessa Borovilos shot a 4-under 66 Friday in the first round of the SEC Championship at the par-70 Pelican Golf Club.

"I thought we got off to a really good start," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "We leaked a little bit of oil in the middle of our front nine but made an amazing run on the back nine. This team is not notorious for fast starts, so the fact that we are sitting where we are after the first round gives us a great chance to get to where we want to get on Tuesday. Vanessa was phenomenal all day. She might be kicking herself for letting a couple get away, but she is doing a great job.

Texas A&M held onto a share of first place with a score of 4-under 276 as a team with No. 14 Vanderbilt. The Aggies are scheduled to tee off from No. 1 at 7 a.m. Saturday for round two. Rounding out the top five after 18 holes were No. 3 Florida (-3), No. 21 Ole Miss (-3) and No. 5 Texas (-3).

Borovilos was tied for first at 4-under 66 with Ole Miss's Mary Miller and Mississippi State's Avery Weed. The sophomore holed seven birdies in round one, including three straight on Nos. 13, 14 and 15. The Canadian is looking to become the first Aggie to win the Individual SEC Championship since Bianca Fabrizio in 2015.

Freshman Natalie Yen held a place inside the top 10 after firing a 2-under 68. Yen was the first golfer on the course for the Aggies Friday and immediately started things off with a birdie on No. 1. The West Linn, Oregon, native proceeded to know down four more birdies on the day to achieve the under-par round and share of seventh place.

Sky Sudberry and Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio both went 1-over 71 to take a piece of 30th into Saturday's action. Brynn Kort rounded out the lineup at 5-over 75 and tied for 66th.

Texas A&M is seeking to be inside the top eight by the end of play Sunday after 54 holes of stroke play. Placing eighth or better would advance the Maroon & White to match play for the third time in the Chadwell era.

Aggies Continue Push for Match Play; Borovilos in Running for Individual SEC Title

BELLEAIR, Fla. -- The No. 4 Texas A&M Women's Golf Team was in seventh after round two of the SEC Championship Saturday at the par-70, Pelican Golf Club and Vanessa Borovilos was two shots back of the individual lead at 6-under 134.

"We are playing really good golf," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "Our mistakes today just carried a lot of weight. The big numbers are the difference between where we are and where we probably should be. We have an opportunity tomorrow to get to match play and compete for an SEC Championship. We just have to clean some things up, but we are very excited to get back out there."

Texas A&M was in seventh at 3-under 557 after 36 holes and two shots ahead of No. 18 Tennessee (-1), No. 8 Auburn (-1) and No. 16 Mississippi State (-1) who were tied for eighth. The Aggies will need to finish within the top eight of the team standings in order to advance to match play.

Borovilos fired a 2-under 68 in the second round to bring her 36-hole score to 6-under 134 and was two shots back of Ole Miss's Mary Miller who was sitting at 8-under 132. Borovilos was tied for second with Mississippi State's Avery Weed. The Canadian is looking to become the first Aggie to win the Individual SEC Championship since Bianca Fabrizio in 2015. The best individual finish at SEC's during the Chadwell era was when Adela Cernousek tied for sixth in 2024.

Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio shot a team-best 3-under 67 and vaulted herself into a share of 14th. The junior had four birdies and one single bogey on Saturday's scorecard.

Sky Sudberry and Brynn Kort both shot a 3-over 73 and were tied for 48th and in solo 65th, respectively. Natalie Yen rounded out the lineup with a 4-over 74 and tied for 35th.

The Aggies tee off at 7:50 a.m. Sunday morning for the decisive final stroke-play round.

No. 4 Women's Golf Sets up Quarterfinal Match with No. 5 Texas. Vanessa finishes in a tie for second for SEC individual champion.

BELLEAIR, Fla. The No. 4 Texas A&M Women's Golf Team finished stroke play with the seven seed Sunday at the Pelican Golf Club to face No. 5 Texas in the quarterfinals of the SEC Championship on Monday morning.

"Scoreboard is zero-zero," Head Coach Gerrod Chadwell said. "It is really hard getting into match play in this tournament. Just look at the teams that didn't make it. We have to be a little cleaner tomorrow to beat a good Texas team, but I like my team's chances. What we just went through was a first for a lot of our young ladies. The hard part isn't over, but this will make us better."

Texas A&M turned in a 54-hole score of 3-over 843 to secure its place in the match play field by one shot over No. 14 Missouri (+4). The Aggies tied for seventh with No. 14 Vanderbilt but had a lower cumulative drop score over the three rounds to earn the seven seed.

The Maroon & White went into the clubhouse after giving up three strokes on No. 18 while Missouri was 1-over with all of its golfers having the final two holes left. The Tigers got through No. 17 unscathed but 18, which played as the hardest hole on the day, proved too much for Mizzou. The Tigers had a 15-foot putt to force a three-way playoff that did not fall and sent Texas A&M and Vanderbilt smoothly into match play.

The Aggies were led by sophomore Vanessa Borovilos who earned a share of the individual runner-up honors, shooting 6-under 204 for the week. Florida's Paula Francisco won the individual crown at 8-under 202.

Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio wrapped up her week in stroke play tied for 25th. The junior shot 2-over 212 thru 54 holes. The Spaniard is 3-0 all-time in match play at SECs, having won all of her outings during the 2024 SEC Championship match run.

Natalie Yen tied for 38th at 5-over 215 and Brynn Kort took home a piece of 44th with a 7-over 217. Kort shot the best round of the day for the Aggies, posting a 1-under 69. Sky Sudberry rounded out the lineup with an 8-over 218 and tied for 52nd.

Texas A&M tees off against the Longhorns at 7:50 a.m. from No. 1 to begin the quarterfinals. The two programs last met in the quarterfinals of the 2023 NCAA Championships where the Aggies won, 3-1. The Maroon & White would take on the winner of the Oklahoma and Tennessee matchup at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday after the quarters.

The semifinal match is scheduled to be streamed on SECN+ at 2 p.m. Match play updates can be found here:

It seems like we generally get screwed in pairings (fan bias I'm sure). But I'm glad we avoided Florida and Auburn for the Semis. I think both were playing really well and on paper UT is a better draw.

We'll see.

Seems like every year with the men and women they only show the back nine-ish holes. I dont think they have the personnel on course to show every hole.
