The city knew that wall for the bridge was failing and had the opportunity to address it and fix it well before that wall fell into the river.
Covid sucked for plenty of reasons, but a nice silver lining was the City getting a huge windfall of golfers during that span. That extra revenue no doubt helped with citywide course improvements. Meadowbrook is a fine example.
"The bridge on the River Course at Pecan Valley between #15 and #18 is currently out of order, making #15 a par 3 and #18 a par 5. Detours are posted on the course."
What's your point? Covid had nothing to do with anything regarding that bridge. And Meadowbrook was already on the books to be redone before COVID. That course was selected to be redone due to the fact they closed Sycamore and needed to be "equitable" with the people on that side of town. What could have been a relatively cheap repair has now turned into millions in cost to replace the entire bridge. Those millions could have been spent in much better places on the courses.
I guess you get your information elsewhere? I'm not sure how I struck a nerve with you. My point was that the 50% increase of Golfers during Covid, incentivized the City to invest in various course improvements.
Per the article:
" Renovating Meadowbrook Golf Course will take just over $13 million with voters approving $7 million in the 2022 bond election. Construction is estimated to start by the end of the year, and is expected to finish by summer 2025."
"Lewis also points to a surge in the golf industry during the pandemic. Meadowbrook, for example, saw a more than 50% increase in paid rounds in 2020 compared to the previous year."
