Uh... what's going on? This is the course my grandad taught me how to play on. Haven't played it in years since I don't live there anymore but drive by it every time I visit my parents.

Weird, something with the Texags app giving me fits. Anyways, I guess I had forgotten that hole #1 on the River Course is named "Reveille". Had a nice outing yesterday. The course was in really nice shape. Greens were on the faster side but consistent through all 18.

Not sure why the mobile app won't let me post photos. I get a "Failure to create reply" error message. Sorry for the initial flub.

There might be a few dents in that metal building from my high school days. And not because I was aiming for it...

I don't think Danny was the OP. I think texags had a moment and agfrog is the actual OP. Weird.

Correct. Someone else started the thread but their actual post disappeared

Did the City of F.W. have the rewards points back when you played in the 90's? I golfed most of the FW Muni's back in the mid 00's (Pecan, Meadowbrook, Rockwood) and racked up so many points I golfed for free for a couple of summers. Green fees were a drop in the bucket back then. Good times.

The city knew that wall for the bridge was failing and had the opportunity to address it and fix it well before that wall fell into the river.

Covid sucked for plenty of reasons, but a nice silver lining was the City getting a huge windfall of golfers during that span. That extra revenue no doubt helped with citywide course improvements. Meadowbrook is a fine example.

"The bridge on the River Course at Pecan Valley between #15 and #18 is currently out of order, making #15 a par 3 and #18 a par 5. Detours are posted on the course."

What's your point? Covid had nothing to do with anything regarding that bridge. And Meadowbrook was already on the books to be redone before COVID. That course was selected to be redone due to the fact they closed Sycamore and needed to be "equitable" with the people on that side of town. What could have been a relatively cheap repair has now turned into millions in cost to replace the entire bridge. Those millions could have been spent in much better places on the courses.

I guess you get your information elsewhere? I'm not sure how I struck a nerve with you. My point was that the 50% increase of Golfers during Covid, incentivized the City to invest in various course improvements.

Per the article:

" Renovating Meadowbrook Golf Course will take just over $13 million with voters approving $7 million in the 2022 bond election. Construction is estimated to start by the end of the year, and is expected to finish by summer 2025."

"Lewis also points to a surge in the golf industry during the pandemic. Meadowbrook, for example, saw a more than 50% increase in paid rounds in 2020 compared to the previous year."

I think he was asking what your point was because he said they had plenty of time to fix an obvious problem…

Then you replied to his post that they fixed up another golf course.

It begs the question… what was your point?

No nerve struck. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off that way.

What I'm saying is that plans to redo Meadowbrook were already underway well before Covid happened. It was already decided that it would be included in the 2022 bond around 2018 or 2019.
And they were alerted to the problem with the bridge at Pecan Valley well before that thing collapsed. There were options to repair for much less than 2 million dollars that fell on deaf ears, amongst other major golf course issues they ignored. COVID was great for nearly all of the courses nationwide, including the city of Fort Worth. It's unfortunate the money they were finally able to contribute to the golf fund after years of being in the red has been depleted due to a lack of action needed to repair things when they had the chance. Money that could have been utilized to replace severely outdated irrigation on the Hills & River courses. It's just another item added to the long list of issues from decades of bad management decisions.

Don't remember because we played there for school.
