Just listened to 760 2-4pm show. was out making calls. Has to be the worst radio I have ever heard (much less sports. They were horrible. No lead-ins, bad grammer, talked over each other, no indepth......

The sports grind. As has been discussed on this thread, it's not a 760 show but a 2-hour paid program.

Apparently it just took one winter in green bay for this sad experiment to fail. Taylor tweeted that they're moving back, just in time to ruin the playoffs for the spurs.

He announced on his show this AM that he is moving back to SA. They made a mistake moving to Green Bay.

I hope he gets the afternoon slot back. 4-7pm SUCKS right now.

He said he will be back on the air Monday morning, so it looks like they're leaving him in his current time slot, at least for now. Hopefully they will do something soon though. The 4-7pm show is just absolutely horrible.

I hope he jay lenos that guy doing 4-7. It's intolerable right now.

Since we're all sharing...

1) Taylor is the best sports radio in SA. He does have great NFL takes. He's the first one to talk about not breaking the bank for any position other than QB, LT, & S.
2) Sheen is the biggest tease I have ever heard. He will tease topics way too much
3) Love Mohr vs. Rome
4) Can't listen to Dat - love him as an Aggie but he and Jason have zero depth

Opening the thoughts to more than just SA, why don't radio folks learn how to ask interview questions? Texags radio is some of the worst offenders. They wax on and on and end up asking a yes or no question instead of open ended questions. Perhaps I should start a consulting gig to teach Looch & Gabe how to interview someone so the emphasis is on the guest and not the host.

The biggest reason guys don't know how to do interviews is because they are not "journalists". Chances are Looch and Gabe went to school for something else and did not learn the basics. What they are learning now is on the fly.

The big reason interviewers will make it about them and not the guest is because they want their audience to think they have a great knowledge about whatever topic they are discussing. There is actually a technique to conducting interviews and like you stated, that starts with open-ended questions. Too many people forget this when talking to guests, especially on the radio.

Sheen is terrible and Taylor needs his old spot back. I keep trying to listen to Sheen but it seems like all he does is try to let everyone know how right he is about SA being a good town for MLB. I get it, you think we could handle more than 1 pro team. Try changing the topic to something else every once in a while instead of beating everyone over the head with it.

I'm surprised to hear that you guys like Mike Taylor, I thought he was awful. The only reason I listened to him was because 1250 reception sucks where I live.

The bad things is that Taylor is horrible and the others are even worse. Sheen is by far the worst they have had on locally in a long time. He rivals Pasacreda when it comes to how bad he is. I don't know how either one of those guys is on the radio. They must work for cheap.

Taylor said another "big" announcement is coming tomorrow. Is he moving back to the afternoon time slot? Sheen going back to wherever he came from?

Unfortunately, no. His show will now be carried in Austin too. Hopefully that doesn't mean more t.u. talk (unless he's making fun of them).

At first I groaned anticipating more sip discussion, but now I'm kind of looking forward to it. He gives the dips a hard time and I don't think that will change... especially if they continue to suck. It will mean more sip callers, though, I'm sure.

I think it's going to be fine. He'll talk more Longhorns for sure, but as long as they suck, he will say they suck and probably do a good job pissing off arrogant Longhorn fan in Austin who has probably never heard a local show that calls it like it is.

If Taylor played his cards right (and that's highly questionable) he could be Finebaum in 20 years.

1. Start in a city.
2. Build a regional following.
3. Get well-placed with a major player that can back him into more markets.
4. Go national.

Hadn't listened to Taylor in MONTHS, and I turned it on the other day to hear him talking about his daughter, and how he would move to The Castro just so his daughter would be accepted.

Interesting. One of the Thompson brothers is the only local radio guy I will listen to.

Haven't listened to Taylor since I got Sirius a couple of years ago, not surprised about the move. I'm sure he made a huge bit about it to fill the show up for a couple of weeks. He really wasn't anything special given that the bar is set at Chris Duel, pretty sure that is why he stuck around for so long. When you are compared to dog ****, you only have to be slightly better than dog ***** He's achieved that.

I didn't click the link, but yes it has to be one of the twins. Pretty sad that a parent would indulge or encourage that in an eight-year-old.
