I wasn't impressed with it. They have a decent selection on their menu, but the food didn't impress, the al pastor especially. And they don't make their own flour tortillas which is generally a deal breaker, especially in a city like San Antonio.

i wouldn't know the best, but honestly my favorite is El Chaparral in Helotes.

Mexican Manhattan On Soledad. I've been going there my whole life and it feels like home. The Chili con queso is made with a special cheese that they have made just for them. It looks like a dive from the street but has a great patio on the river up high where you can watch the tourists.

This is really an unfair question. It's like being in St Louis or Chicago and asking what is the best Italian food restaurant. There are so many to choose from here in SA, each with its own style, that you really can't say which one is 'The Best'.

Azul, you are looking for gourmet Mexican food? The two do not go hand in hand and you seem to have very high standards. Go to bohanans or Gwendolyn and leave the Mexican food the untrained palate locos.

For Mexican at the pearl I only know of La Gloria. It's more authentic Mexican than tex-mex, so it will be different than what many people are used to. It is good, though, and will have some dishes that are similar to common tex-mex.

Went to viva taco land tonight, while it was a nice environment for a casual drink, the tacos were pretty subpar. Ordered a picodillo taco which tasted like a jack in the box taco. Friends ordered bean and cheese which consisted of basically a flour tortilla a **** ton of beans and a slight sprinkle of cheese on top . Would not reccomend
