A friend of mine in Squadron 2 sat on the opposite side of Duncan from the BQs, so he never knew the BQs would occasionally sing it. He just thought that Duncan would randomly make a much of noise for no reason.

I'm Class of '65, and I've never heard of "The Aggie Band Song."
As said above and in the other thread, the origin was the class of '68, so no surprise there.

So are they still having fish sing, to the tune of O Tannenbaum:

I love it here
I love it here
You bet your @$$
I love it here
I shine my shoes
I clean my brass
I fall asleep
In every class
I love it here
I love it here
You bet your @$$
I love it here
Looks harmless !

I think they didn't want us singing it in Duncan because cups would get broken when the CTs banged them on the table.

At one point we could only sing it outside. Which wasn't as fun.

Class of '70. We sang it at the Rice game as the MOB did their thing.

It was known during my fish year, 1966. It's possible the class of '68 started it,
Okay, my curiosity has got the better of me. Who are you. I was a drummer and roomed with JDL in dorm nine our senior year.

I just made an account to comment on this thread.

At the beginning of the 2015-2016 school year, the directors addressed the upperclassmen ('16, '17, and '18) and informed us that it was now forbidden, citing the fairly recent Ohio State band controversy as one of the reasons. During the previous school year, we (the fish) were first taught it at the end of culmination and the only other times I distinctly were during BQ Ball and one dinner at Duncan near the end of the school year. There might have been more times that we sung it but I can't remember any more clearly.

So this year '19 never learned it and neither will future classes because I think with the way society in general is moving in regards to LGBT stuff that it's likely going to stay dead. I'm disappointed and sad about it too as I'm sure many of you are but that's just the way it is in 2016 (Although, I'd be glad if it came back one day). This way the university can avoid a potential ****storm that could stain the FTAB and Corps. There were some other small changes enforced in the band and Corps in general that frustrated me a little more than this did.

It's almost poetic how this tradition was born with '68 and lasted 50 years to '18, which is also the last class to spend its fish year on the old quad before the renovation.
