I think her heart is in the best interest of the Corps. Anyone visiting these boards might believe that the fish are responsible for all the changes overnight. Or some, probably the most part, witness the Corps as a long slow decay and others, such as myself, see it simply as the changing of times. I'm sure every decisions was made in the best interest of the Corps, at that time, or as a result of a rules change.
One thing for sure is that we have Commandant that actually listens to the opinions off these boards---so long as they are done in a respectable and professional manner. In the past you'd pretty much have to be a member of the Trigon or a million dollar donor to have the Commandants ear.
If we truly loved the Corps and care about its future we would take advantage of this opportunity and provide meaningful feedback instead of the typical rumor based bashing. None of the fish today are responsible for today's climate. If anything its our fault.
Agreed. Nowhere on this thread have I voiced an opinion on whether fish should have a microwave, fridge, coffeepot, etc.
I didn't care for OP shotgunning a "what the hell is wrong with the Corps" post. And when I questioned OP, she immediately labeled my reply as a sexist comment, that I questioned the post because she is a Mom. That was bull*****
My Dad was in the Corps, I was, and my son finished his four years on the quad a couple of years ago. When I was in, I quickly disliked those former cadets -- young and old -- who constantly complained about the current Corps. All they did was ***** about how dumb things were, "back when I was in ..." etc. And you know what? We had a pretty damn good group in the 80's.
My Dad told me early on he was not going to belittle my year group. It was definitely different in the 80's vs '49. Certainly he had an opinion but he thought the quad had outstanding men and women on it and it was producing great leaders for the world. That was what was important to him.
You think there aren't vast, striking differences today from the early 80's? Hell yes. But, my son's era, just like mine, and just like my Dad's, produced great leaders for this world -- ones who will lean upon their Corps experience to make this world a better place -- DESPITE THE CHANGES. And quite honestly, I'm glad some of the stuff we did and we endured then is gone.
Yep, I have opinions about the Corps. But, even if I disagree with some, I have to trust the leadership in place -- from the Commandant, Trigon staff, to the upperclassmen, to make decisions in the best interests of the cadet, the student, the Corps, and Texas A&M.
The product is still second to none. Grades are outstanding, incredibly sharp men and women are being commissioned into the military, Business, industry, government organizations are receiving phenomenal talent out of the Corps of Cadets. I was impressed with my Dad's generation, my group, and I'm still impressed with my son's era.
I think parents, whether an "...old CT or BQ," or a Dad or Mom, should stay out of what privileges fish should or shouldn't have.
And by the way, OP's accusatory blast is still unsubstantiated.
