Sounds like 47 is gonna sign an EO deploying 'military units' to the southern border. Who is getting tapped for this?

Thank god I joined the Army Reserve instead of Texas National Guard.

I've had a couple buddies on Operation Lonestar…doesn't sound fun.

OLS was a ****show at the beginning, but got much better. Lots of those on it have volunteered for multiple tours. Pay is good, but it's state active duty, so none of it counts towards benefits.

If they mobilize guard guys (or reserves) it will be more like operation Jump Start was. Full pay, per diem, and benefits.

At the end of the day, I'll go wherever and do as I'm told!

Yes.

Those deployments to Kuwait are big. They even shutdown the Cheese Cake Factory during COVID.

This should be a Regular Army mission, not the Guard. ArNG is temporary and short term, plus it has been 'voluntary' state pay and not Federalized Unit deployments as I understand it. Should be Mech Infantry outfits for fixed portions of the wall locations AND areas where the wall is still missing and/or under construction. Attack Helo Bns for scouting in remote areas. MP Bns for collection/holdling. Put them along the border for 6 months and then take a look at what it has done.

Every CONUS tactical unit should be available for a 6 month's push.

That would be sweet.

I might need to invest in a couple gut trucks.
