I just got the delay email. Most email servers can't handle 100K emails at once.

If you haven't cracked the EC18 yet…
I'd use it to trade. IMO.

I dunno, may just keep it and crack it for friends when the are over and want something they'll never see. A bit tough to trade when I'm primarily looking for past bottlings of scotch.

It's a good pour, just depends on the SiB. I've found that easing into the oak with some KC12 beforehand really helps it shine. Fun bottle to share like you said too.

I have a buddy that swears that the EC18 bottled in Q4 of each year is the best, and based on a small sample size I kind of agree

So my sister in law had a bottle donated for a charity auction she is helping with. It appears to be a 750 ml bottle of 1983 old weller special reserve. 88508 on the UPC so it's stitzel weller juice, regardless of year. But the tax stamp looks broken. At least it doesn't line up pure from the cap to the neck of the bottle. I'm not a dusties expert though. No idea how it's supposed to look. And I am only looking at pictures she's sending. She's in the dfw area and i am in htown. Guess i was just concerned the bottle might've been opened. Any of yall got better knowledge of this stuff? She's trying to figure out a good value to expect from auctioning it.

Update on the flooding at Buffalo Trace from their fb page.

At Buffalo Trace Distillery, flood waters have now completely receded, granting access and allowing for clean-up and recovery efforts to happen throughout the entirety of campus.

Distillery leadership teams, along with engineers and expert clean-up and restoration professionals, have begun performing detailed assessments and subsequent repairs for any of the buildings affected by flood waters. The amount of damage is still being determined.

Updates as of Friday, April 11 are as follows:

Inspection of any barrels touched by the flood began Thursday, April 10 and will be ongoing until all have been appropriately assessed. This is a very involved process, including both barrel inspection as well as the same rigorous quality testing every bottle of whiskey undergoes at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Based on historical knowledge from previous floods, Buffalo Trace has been successful in recovering any barrels that might have been affected by flood waters; the Distillery is confident in its process. Inspection is expected to take several weeks, however, any loss of barrels is not expected to be meaningful.
Teams also started clean-up inside the Buffalo Trace Visitor Center, which saw flooding on the first floor and will require a period for repair. Teams are working diligently to re-open the Visitor Center in a modified manner as soon as possible. As of now, the Distillery will be closed to visitors through Sunday, April 13th.
Additionally, the Distillery expects to operate a greatly modified retail experience early next week from the "Freehouse Building." This will be made accessible via an email reservation system available first to tour reservation holders whose visits were interrupted by the flooding.
Until the Distillery fully reopens to visitors, only select team members, recovery experts and guests are permitted on-site.

In the coming weeks, Buffalo Trace looks forward to sharing details on forthcoming relief initiatives to further support the community. Should you want to support relief efforts in the immediate, the Franklin County Flood Relief Fund has been set up by the city to collect donations and offer aid to those who need it most.

To me, that looks opened. Doesn't look like age-wear on the tax strip. Clean cut line across it.

Impossible to be certain but if there's any chance of it bringing controversy I would suggest trying to get an opinion on it in person.

I agree fellas. Looks opened to me. But just for the sake of discussion. What would that have been worth unopened? And what's it worth opened? If I could go up and taste it I would know for sure if it's SW juice as I have had it before. Nectar of the gods on my palate. The Lord knew to get that off the shelves before I became of drinking age or I would have surely become an alcoholic.

That's unfortunate. I would return that back to the person who donated it. No telling what's in that bottle.
