Doesn't make it "better". Just makes it different.
I'll say though, I'm a Rye old fashioned guy. I had a Jefferson's ocean aged at sea old fashioned last night and it was absolutely fantastic.

I have never tried Jefferson's Ocean Aged. Should I give it a try?
If it's a decent price, sure. Different voyages vary, but they're a fun little gimmick. I wouldn't pay msrp for any of the bottles I've tried, but I'm cheap.

They were $23 each. Granted, a hotel bar. Not my dime.
I think a bottle is like $70MSRP.

Much better stuff to buy at that price point. If you wanna try it, do it at a bar, preferably when someone else is paying. It's not bad. It's just not $80 good.

I hope the new financing options are not PE. I'd rather see them sell out and have a shot at maintaining quality then be butchered.

Can you order GB from a Texas address? I tried earlier today, and a few months ago, and it wouldn't go through. Don't know if it's both my laptop and phone, or a typical stoopid TX alcohol law.

I was able to, when it processed it processed through a store that wasn't the distillery.

I haven't had the former and the latter was not good. Tons of better single malts out there.

It's the American Single Malt oloroso Sherry Cask
That's the one I haven't had. Id be a sucker for it, but in my experience with their other release I would say pass.

It's no longer travel only as I grabbed a bottle of the JD ASM today at a specs here in Houston, pic over on the scotch thread. It's interesting, not bad and not great, will need to go at it with a clean palate and not after IPA's and Buffalo chicken blue cheese sandwich.

Not overly sherried but pick up some good nuttiness from the oloroso (i prefer PX), like walnut/pecan oiliness. Nothing offputting on the finish, somewhat dry on the middle and back palate. There's something on the nose I'm having a tough time identifying, and an ethanol punch to boot.
Happy Good Friday!!! I give up alcohol for Lent every year, I definitely sampled some of the good stuff tonight to break my fast! Eagle rare and EHT were my favorites.
I certainly drink less in Lent too. But I only have 1 to 3 drinks a week max anyway at this point in my life and always drink with others. Too many lives ruined by alcoholism in my life.

I have started limiting myself to 1 a week - after dinner on Saturday night. I feel much better after having done so.
The downside is that I have many unopened bottles that I will never get to enjoy at this rate.

I've had 2 bourbons in 2025. Went 95 days without and then had one small pour of Pappy 15 when Kent hit the walk off grand slam last week against South Carolina. I'll never finish all of my open bottles at this rate.

Because of the limit, I keep the rare bottles longer, don't buy cheap stuff anymore (except a couple of mixer bottles), save money, feel better, and don't feel bad about drinking from ANY of my bottles for no matter the reason.
Similar for me. I limit myself to a double on Friday and Saturday. And share with friends as much as possible. Good way to limit my consumption, savor each pour, and enjoy the memories that come with enjoying with good friends.
I went from having 1-2 pours a week to maybe 1-2 a month. I'm not sure why I've reduced, but it's been a good change for me. I feel like I'm more sensitive to alcohol and how it impacts my sleep as I've gotten older.
Unfortunately no Jack ASM at any of the Corpus stores but I did find an EHT SmB at the Alameda store so not all was lost.
