30-75% price premium over MSRP across the lineup? I won't be dealing with all the neck beards in-line for those.

I think that basically is MSRP these days. Probably should have hiked the prices 3 years ago but i guess better late than never.

I got the TW email, but unfortunately can't go. I did get two Blantons at Buffalo Trace today. The wife and I each got one.

I've actually significantly decreased my bourbon purchases and consumption over the last year or so. I've found I'm even one drink can give me a minor headache (not hangover) while drinking or immediately after drinking.

I've transitioned to gin or blanco tequila for cocktails and anejo tequilas for sipping. So far so good, unfortunately my last bottle or Fortaleza is running low so I have to hunt for that now just like bourbon.

Looks like Houston Total Wines have the 8 yr Wild Turkey. Also saw that Knob Creek store picks will now be at cask strength, I was able to order one from a store in California.

Is there a way to find out what whiskeys use a given juice? I learned that Old Forester 1897, which is one of my favorites, uses dsp 354 (brown-forman early times) while the 1920 (which I don't care for), the single barrel, and King Ranch (which are unopened in the back of a cabinet) are distilled and bottled on site. So I figured I'd try and find some other whiskeys that start with 354 juice. Some googling shows that Rittenhouse rye, an old special edition early times, and possibly coopers craft use it? Is there a better way to figure this out than just reading the backs of a bunch of bottles?

PSA.

EHT Small batch now considered unallocated. Hitting retailers in huge numbers. Can buy by the case.

When will the single barrel go?

That's one of the best in my cabinet I think.

Unsure, but wouldnt count on it being soon in terms of on the floor availability. Will be interested to see if the new BTAC engagement stays small and aged (40 barrels or less), or if they repurpose a bunch of single barrel juice and release reduced quantities of single barrel label. Idk...they're crafty.

The single barrel will probably become more common but i doubt it becomes a shelf product unless they increase the price significantly.

Even back in the day the EHT SB was pretty uncommon to find even when the SmB and Rye were everywhere.

That would be great, they have been showing up a lot more in DFW the last month or two. Still very spotty though, and up at the front counter versus on the shelf, is where I've snagged them.

Yesterday at the Buffalo Trace factory, they had both the EHT Small Batch and Blantons as their picks of the day. Both had signs saying one per person every 90 days. Don't know if that's any indication, but it was cool seeing them wheel out cases and keeping the shelves stocked. The regular BT bottles (and other stuff) were available by the case, no limit, as a comparison.

That's been their policy for quite a while.

That was my understanding as well. Just reporting that if they are making it non-allocated, nothing at the factory has changed yet regarding their special picks of the day.

Looking forward to making EHT Small Batch a daily sipper. It is my absolute favorite.

We are slowly getting back to what it was like when I started getting into bourbon.
Walk into a liquor store and see bottles on the shelves, not behind a counter. I'm guessing they still keep some offerings low, to keep demand high. But I love finding stuff that was previously allocated just sitting out waiting for me to adopt it and take it home.

I'd guess Eagle Rare will be the next thing to go back to the shelves. That would also make me happy.

Im sure it will be now that the 12 year is coming out. In some parts it is already very common just like BT is in Texas.

ER was the first bottle that got me into bourbon. I couldn't afford the scotch i liked so i moved towards grabbing the cheapest bourbon on the shelf (~$24 )with a high age statement. It may be lower proof but it is good whiskey.

What's weird is that ER is on the shelf at every duty free I go through internationally, and I buy one every time for like 45 bucks. Baffling that it isn't more distributed in the country it's made in.

Is Elijah Craig 18 a buy at $200? Heaven Hill had a few on the shelf earlier today. Thought I'd seen people post it around $165 locally (maybe it was $265?)

Depends on what you like. Price isn't bad for that at all, but I don't like the 18 year. Super oaky. I would rather spend $50-$100 and get something I enjoy more.

I like it, but don't consider it a buy (again) at $200 (yes, I bought it at $200 at HH).
