Just tried it and couldn't find it either. Would love to grab more.

Ha. I didn't look that far. Just clicked to see if it gave a 404 or not. Guess it's gone!

You can always email last bottle and ask them if you can buy some more… They just add one dollar to their original sale price and then I think there's some different minimums for free shipping

Thank you for the kind words. We are predominantly a Pinot and Chardonnay house, but have jumped around a bit more in the past year or so.

Here is a wine from one country I always feel like I have only scratched the surface of over time. A Tuscan red from the coastal Maremma region. This one in particular is Sangiovese with a touch of Cab. Fun change up if you want to see what the grape can do outside of the regular Chianti appellations.

None for me but they get great reviews. I'm a big believer that you can always pick up aged Bordeaux at auction, so I rarely buy the young stuff.

that's my thought, too. they produce enough volumes it is always around...

How much '22 Bordeaux have y'all tasted? Getting some offers on some of the classified houses and wondering if it worth it to buy a few.

A more complete thought is really based on age of the buyer.

At 71 years of age, I'm not buying any wine to hang on to for 10 years. At 50, I would.

So it would then depend upon price and availability. And yes, lots of BDX is available, so even saving any money is uncertain. However, provenance is certain. If you get them from the Chateau and store them you know they're ok years from now. And it's fun to posses them.

Yes, I'm sure I will feel like a human at some point tomorrow. Flying to California in the morning for 2 days in st Helena and 2 days in Elk, California. Celebrating a milestone birthday for my wife.

There was another Texager over last night for dinner….I'm sure he will chime in with his fav wines of the evening.

It was a great night, both the company and the wine. I'd say the Shafer and the Chateau de la Tour were my favorites.

I was also surprised how well the '79 Burgess had held up.

Marry a South American and sometimes you need to have a South American wine.

I'm in SF Bay Area, so you would have to come out here. Oh, and contribute. That's it. Now, I don't do the 10-30 bottle bashes that WestU does.

To be fair, I've seen him limit himself to 5 bottles at times.

Keep me posted if there is a gathering in Napa ever.

Opened up this Chablis tonight. It's a typical Chablis. Has that lean through note that defines the category. But I've definitely had plenty of Cali and Oregon Chard in a similar style that I would take over this more often than not.

If you still think all domestic Chardonnay means only a creamy rich bomb or if you do not like Chardonnay currently, I bet you would like both this wine and other great domestic Chardonnays. There's truly a Chardonnay for everyone!

Edit to add: Let me know if there are any Napa meetings of the minds in the future that I could contribute to!

Nice little Thursday

Definitely two of the best wines I've ever tasted. The Latour was in peak form, it's time to drink now. Nose was more pencil lead / light cigar box. Taste was in the same vein with muted fruit. Lafite was epic Lafite and seemed very youthful, but was amazing. Seriously, I could see it going another 20yrs and peaking. Floral, multidimensional nose. More fruit up front with a very layered, broad finish. Just amazing.

The biggest challenge is availability. My tastes definitely lean old world, and I've found that there are regions in California and Oregon that hit the spot for me that don't see a ton of distribution to Texas.

On my last trip out west, I broke my "no wine clubs" rule at Mount Eden. Their wines hit the mark for me across the board, and that's the only way to get them consistently.

Had a new (to me) varietal while on vacation recently ... a 2022 Xinomavro from the Alpha Estate Hedgehog Vineyard in Greece.

Not an expensive wine at all, and it was a nice change of pace.

Had a nice dinner at Charter oak in st Helena last night. The 86 Dunn was the winner of the night, but the 86 heitz and la miss held their own.

The 1986 Schramsberg blanc de noirs (late disgorged in 96) was crazy good and was one of the best examples of American sparkling wine I have ever tasted.

If you can get your hands a bottle
Of 23 Roulot, buy all you can. It was a great vintage for white burgundies.

Lastbottle mystery wine today is 2022 Stags Leap Artemis Cab. Even though its '22 vintage, at $39 it is a definate buy in my opinion.

Interesting. A bit surprised that the Dunn beat out the CLMHB

It was close but the group had more votes for Dunn than LMHB. It was very close though
