I was at about 3+ handles per week when I quit. Been almost 2 years. I still have 10 to 15 grand in bourbon I need to turn in to cash. I still buy the occasional bottle as well of it is a pick done by folks I know. If I ever get the job I want i mqy have a nice pour to celebrate but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.
I'm five days into Dry February. A lot easier than I thought. I'm currently the night shift of an army exercise for two weeks, so that helps a lot!

Update for those commenting on this post.

After several of the comments made me feel like an alchy I did a week long survey of what my actual numbers were and here is the update.

Weekdays: 3-4.
Past Saturday babysitting 3 kids under 5: 9
Sunday: 2 (on the road majority of the day)

So I would have to reduce my average to 3-4 instead of the original estimates.

Now I'm going on a bachelor party in a few weeks and those few days alone will be unhealthy numbers. Will update post trip on the numbers from that trip.
That sounds about like where I was until last month. I'm trying to lose a little weight, so I've swapped 3-4 beers for an Irish whiskey or scotch neat during the week. Maybe two. I'll have maybe 6-9 beers/drinks on Saturday, then scale it back to 2-3 on Sunday. So say 20 or so a week lately.

I drink two bottles of wine per week. And I do that in two sittings. So, 1 bottle per session. Some weeks I'll add a couple of margs to that or I will swap one bottle with a night of margs instead.

This is quite a bit less than it was pre-COVID. My wife quit drinking cold turkey on Dec. 31, 2019. She was drinking a bottle of Chardonnay every night and realized she didn't want to do that anymore. I wasn't drinking at that rate but it was definitely more than now. We were putting down a case of wine per week I bet. Very proud of her for doing this.

We actually told our doctors we thought were drinking too much and both just shrugged it off as no big deal. Lol. Ok. She quit anyway and has lost 20 pounds since doing it and all of her numbers have significantly improved since she quit as well. I don't see her ever drinking again. She doesn't even think about it.

I was in a similar boat to your wife when I quit 20 years ago in December. I was drinking a bottle of red wine a night with a couple of scotches a few nights a week. I never felt like I really needed it, I just couldn't quit it. So I stopped it cold turkey on Dec 19, 2000 (but who's counting? Ha!)

Most of my wine drinking right now is frankly just plowing through our wine collection. Harder to do with just one of us drinking. I'm down to less than a case after cancelling all of our wine clubs last year. So, once I'm done finishing those off I suspect my consumption will drop further since I'll just be ad how grabbing a bottle when I go to the grocery store.
