This s*** is super serious for schmellba. I'm just sticking around to find out what makes pizzas, po-boys, callaloo, and lobster rolls authentic.

You guys: I'm 4 generations removed from when my family spoke just Czech. I'm SUPER Czech and would know what a kolache is!

I was told that I was "totally incorrect," so I was sharing where my understanding came from and what I grew up with. That was my explanation. And to me, it seems valid. I asked for your explanation and you provided…nothing but the weak response above.
So please. Enlighten me. Let me know where I'm wrong.
Next you're going to try to tell me that my pupik is my ***hole.

No… having a hot take about EXACTLY what makes a food authentic or not is dumb enough where it is yours and your alone to defend.
I'm just telling you that it is super lame to claim some higher understanding because you claim to be 'Czech Czech' yourself on the internet like you are Jaomir Jagr himself only to then cite that your are 4 generations out of having a relative who just spoke Czech.
Nice Jagr referenceATM9000 said:CDub06 said:ATM9000 said:

Personal preference is beans in chili. Have had great chili with and without beans.
The Americas are no place for purists when it comes to food.
Not mentioned on here are "enchiladas", true mexican enchiladas contain no meat of any kind, they are tortillas dredged through chili sauce, sin carne, and served with crumbled white cheese. Some recent variations are the chicken ones in salsa verde and the like, but those are not traditional/common ones.
The ladies that sell lunch plates at our facility in Mexico sell "enchiladas Americanas" plates once a week or so, which are texmex yellow cheese enchiladas. Otherwise they sell true enchilada plates, and there are several varieties but no meat.
Just like there are varieties of chili. And for the record chicken fajitas is straight up heresy.
That would be a navel interpretation on his part .........CDub06 said:ATM9000 said:

I suppose you could argue that file can be used in lieu of okra, but historically file was only used out of season, and as soon as the art/practice of preserving okra (drying, freezing, etc.) became the norm, the use of file as a thickening agent diminished significantly.Gramercy Riffs said:schmellba99 said:
Also, it's not gumbo if it doesn't have okra or a roux, it is 100% blasphemy to omit either.
As far as the okra part, there isn't enough space on this page to display the appropriate number of eye rolls for this comment. Go ahead and tell us that gumbo literally means okra and become the exact guy referred to in the list with kolache guy, fajita guy, etc.

In order of most annoying:
1. Kolache dork
2. Gumbo dork
3. Chili dork
4. Fajita dork
The fajita one I at least understand the argument, but I also understand that words can have multiple meanings.
