Win 4 in 4 days and win the SEC tournament. I'll take an SEC Championship over getting bounced before the Final 4.

Don't like either option.

I'd prefer to win the SEC tourney over making the sweet 16, but I'd prefer an elite 8 berth to winning the SEC tourney.

Depends BK!s two sweet games we were beaten in the first 5 minutes absolutely slaughtered by OU and Michigan. Not sure which team did better in the conf tourney 07, and bk's teams.
We've won more games in the conference tournament over the past 3 tries than probably the previous 20 years.

I think the only things worth remembering pre-Buzz Williams are the Singletary game and the matchup with Kentucky in 2016 in the Championship game between the two clear best teams in the league that year that ended in overtime. Pretty sure we just lost immediately in 2007.

I dont know if it was 2007 or not, but I vaguely remember one of those games expecting to win but where we just decided to stop scoring for the last 5 minutes of the half and the game ended with us getting a bunch of offensive rebounds and missing layups that would have won the game.

Sweet 16 over SECT Champ.

Conference bragging rights when conferences are shifting day-to-day don't mean much to me anymore.

I kinda remember that happening, but I dont think I watched that game. Must've been played during the work day.

Interestingly, Baylor's been to many sweet 16's, some elite 8's and the final four where they won the damn thing as we all know...but Baylor has never in their entire history won a conference tournament championship.

The S16 pays the school better than the SECT Championship. We should go to the S16 every year in fact!

The only real question IMO is would you rather win the SEC Tournament or make the Final Four (and lose).

I can see the argument either way. Anything short of the F4 though, I'd take winning the SEC tourney.

No offense but those choices suck.

You would rather win the SEC tourney than make an Elite 8 appearance. Really?

I agree with that. Regular season championship>Tournament championship>Sweet 16. Sweet 16 might be rare for us to where we have some that are still enamored with the both the idea of it and also the weird "only the tournament matters!" people, that I guess don't watch regular season basketball.

For the one bid league type teams, making the Sweet 16 might as well be the same as winning a national championship, but for a multi-bid major conference team like us, winning conference championships is rarer and harder than making the Sweet 16.

difference is conf tournaments just all around feel like a 'practice tourney' and you can tell no high level teams barely show any emotion to losing since they have bigger fish to fry in a few days, winning it is more dominating the prelims

where as in the NCAAT every game is played like it's the last of their season/career and losing crushes the possibility of how much farther they could've advanced with most teams feeling like this was the one year they could've gone the distance

Disagree that nobody shows emotion. Teams celebrate and cut down the nets. Yeah, nobody acts like the season's over, because its not.

Aggies have perpetual little brother syndrome and I don't think they (we) will ever shake it.

To be fair, this is how Michigan and OSU operate, and they've won the last two football natties.

If we just did what Ohio State did (lose to Michigan and win the NC), there would be some old Ags who would be miserable. I would not be one of them.

However, I was seething in 2012 when A&M was the best team if CFB and we had to watch the team we beat on their homefield dousing the coach in Gatorade.

If the choice is win the SEC tournament in the year where the SEC was arguably the best basketball conference in college basketball history AND that would be an achievement that the school has never accomplished...but only win one NCAA tournament game.

OR

Win just 2 NCAA tournament games which an A&M team has done three times previously

Then I'll taking winning the SEC tournament.

--
Now if you tell me the alternative is the A&M team will win THREE NCAA tournament games making the Elite Eight for the first time in school history, then I'd rather make the Elite Eight.

This is the most ridiculous 'what if' I've seen Ags. Tomorrow we annihilate Texas and end any hopes or dreams they may have had of making the NCAAT.

Winning the SEC this year would be more impressive than the Sweet 16. But I think A&M goes further than the Sweet 16.

There is no fanbase in the country that thinks "the big picture" involves losing games to their rivals except like the creeps that hope to lose so the coach gets fired or whatever.

The most obvious and recent retort to this kind of line of thinking that you cant play lots of conference tournament games and do well in the NCAA Tournament is that just last year NC State played and won 5 games in the ACC Tournament last year and then made the Final Four.
