Most teams would kill to have a 3 seed in the tournament. Only 12 teams are a 3 or better. That is the definition of a good, if not great, season.

Now if we don't do anything in the tournament or somehow drop to a 4 because of this loss, then we can have this conversation.

What are you talking about? What does Baylor or their arena have to do with the history of our program?

Everything I said was (almost) correct. We've been to the S16 6 times in about 110 years. We've been to the tournament only 16 times total. We don't put $$$ and attention and resources into basketball like we do even in baseball.

So just to claim it's S16 or utter failure without knowing the matchups, the seed or anything is CRAZY. You can hate that all you want, but you are just wrong.

I'm not saying it's wrong to want us to make the S16 and to think we probably should this year - I feel that way for sure. But for that to be the expectation and anything else, no matter what, is total failure, it's just not rooted in any facts.

We should expect this team to be one of our most successful teams ever, based on roster, experience, etc. But we aren't a team with the talent and pedigree to just dominate our first two games and walk into the S16, so if we don't, it somehow invalidates the rest of the entire season? Hell, I think this loss today could be more of a bad mark on the season than a loss in the R32, because we don't know anything about those games yet.

Look at Baylor's recent history in the NCAAs! They won a NC and haven't made it past the first weekend since.

In 2010 and 2012 when they made the Elite 8, they only had to play a 14, 10 and 11 seed to get there both times (as a 3 seed)!

Using the NCAA tournament for the hard-line barometer for success of failure for a program of our level is just silly, because it can be such a crap shoot. If we are a 3 seed and lose in the first game, yeah that's a failure. If we then play the 11 seed and lose, that's probably a failure as well.

But if we lose in the R32 to a 6 seed that isn't a great matchup for us, that makes the other 30 games a complete failure? Come on man.

If he's bringing in more talent then I want to see what he can do. My biggest concern is the lack of development of players. This team is a bunch of dawgs who grind as one unit. But not the most fundamentally talented group.

Ok yes I agree with you on almost all of those accounts. And also we are talking about different things.

I'm talking about the current expectation of S16 or bust for A&M basketball and saying, if someone takes that stance, they are saying that if we don't equal our best season ever in 110 years, it will be a failure, and that's crazy. It's a wild over-expectation in a given season that is very unfair based on the past and current level of the program.

You are saying (I think), that we should do more to get more out of the program to raise the level of expectation, because other football/baseball schools in our region have done so without sacrificing the other big sports.

And that I 100% agree with. Other that commitment, I don't feel like there are any factors holding us back from being at the same general level as Bama/Auburn/Florida/Tennessee.

Still have to hire the right guy and get the talent, but there is nothing those schools have that we don't, other than a higher commitment to basketball than us.

Your revisionist history and use of hyperbole (80%) is pathetic. Buzz has hit his ceiling and now it's hitting back. If you're ready for Barone esk basketball in the near future, by all means, hold on to Buzz. That'll show everyone.
