1. 2007- A&M led by BCG & Acie Law IV in the Sweet 16 loses to #2 Memphis. Lost 65-64 on last second shot. Acie missed a crucial layup. End of an era.
2. 2008- A&M led by Turge and Donald Sloan loses to #2 UCLA. Chokes large lead. Lost 51-49 in round of 32. No foul called at end- on an obvious hack on Sloan.
3. 2024- Miracle comeback by Buzz and Taylor- lost in OT to Houston.
4. 2006- A&M led by BCG & Acie Law IV loses in round of 32 to LSU 58-57 after upsetting Syracuse first round. LSU made a bucket with seconds to spare.
5. 2010 - A&M led by Turge and Donald Sloan lost 63-61 to Purdue in OT in round of 32. Purdue made a bucket near end.
6. 2025- A&M led by Buzz and Wade Taylor IV loses to Michigan after having 10 point lead in second half.

Note: in zero of these matchups did we benefit from getting a worse seed opponent in the advanced round. In fact, we have only gotten a break in that respect once- Northern Iowa.

The loss to Houston last year is a good candidate for that list. The Andersson 3 - Boots giving it his all - and Houston barely separating in the final minute of OT.

I think about this all the time. A legacy of heartbreak. We did beat Louisville when they choked harder than we did and had the UNI comeback which is an all timer.

Had em in BAD foul trouble, and then we quit attacking once the OT started! Weird to watch….

If I could change one of those, it may be 2006. I wanted to see Kirk defend JJ Redick in the s16 so bad.

I'm still devastated by the LSU shot in 2006. That team definitely had potential to be the double digit seed that could make a true Cinderella run. Was just cut short but an absurd shot. LSU went on to the final four that year.

Do before 2000. I think there is one to choose from

But UCLA is the one that still pisses me off most.

I was at that lsu game. They were trying to enter the ball to Big Baby but we had it well defended and the guard (Mitchell I think) threw up a 25' prayer. Still a couple of seconds left. We tried to inbound to Acie but they basically knocked him into the second row with no call as I remember.

They set a screen and we switched AK onto Mitchell. AK gave him some space. He had missed his last eight 3s. That's Aggie sports.

That's right - I still think they had Big Baby as an option but do now recall AK on Michell

Also removed from the list is Memphis having I think three offensive boards we couldn't pull down and a 40% FT shooter making both to give them the lead. We didn't lose on a last second shot. BCG didn't have Pompey in who pulled down the big rebound in the KU win.

Pretty much a touch foul on Sloan too as opposed to when he was mugged against ucla.

Houston game last year was brutal for me because we win if we were just average from the FT line.

I do. I know they had Conley but we had multiple big bodies to throw at Oden and those were the rosters that gave ohio state issues

Tennessee was up 21 points on Ohio state in their sweet 16 game and just gagged it up. That team was not remotely invincible

Aggie home crowd in San Antonio with trip to final 4 on the line? IMO we are winning that game all day long

I would argue that we've trailed in many games if not every game that we won. Leading a basketball game does not guarantee a win.

Agree with both points but all are heartbreaking. The list highlights how much better our program is since 2006. Before that just getting in the tournament was worthy of an all night celebration. Now, we get there with regularity, win the first round and are close to advancing to the sweet 16 most years. If we could just get there a few years in a row, who knows?

Check how bad tOSU beat Memphis. We had a hard enough time handling Dorsey.

The Purdue one was tough. Their best player was out with an injury. We had a 10 point lead in the second half. Win that game and play Duke in Houston in the round of 16. But playing in front of a large "home" crowd did not help us against Memphis but would have been fun to go to.

I stayed and watched the game. Still think we would have beat them

Yes that loss really hurt and that LSu teammmade the final four. That team was tough and fun to watch.

Until this thread, I don't think I realized that those three endings (06, 07, and 08) happened in three straight seasons. What a rough run of heartbreakers.

Why does Acie Law IV always get the blame here. Joseph Jones missed an easier lay up right before Law did.
