He wasn't the AD yet during the Stoops/Elko deal, Bjork was.
The Earley thing was a risk. Everyone knew it. Obviously it looks dumb now, but it was a decent thought. A lot of people in the industry liked Earley as an up and comer, by hiring him you bring back a talented roster at a time that you're trying to build momentum for some new facilities. I can see why you'd make that call and roll the dice versus hiring from the outside and doing a total rebuild job.
It didn't work, but I don't think the decision was made just in an effort to be cheap.

It wasn't cheap. We gave Early a 4year, $4MM guaranteed deal. So, yes we will owe him $3MM when we fired him at the end of the season.

Too soon?
Hell, you might as well throw in Don Haskins then.
And while you're at it, throw in Josh Lucas. If he can portray Don Haskins, maybe he knows some bball.
Then that opens up the door to guys like Nick Nolte, Forrest Whitaker, Samuel L Jackson....even Denzel, sort of.

Basically is, it's just wild rumors and speculation. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes not.
Hiring a guy who was fired for beating the piss out of his gf would be revenge for taking a coach while he was coaching the cws? Also this is public record.Commander Gorn said:zooguy96 said:
Hiring Beard Would be a massive FU To the sips.
That I know it's probably unlikely.
This. We would get a great coach and also would be the closest thing to revenge for the Schloss debacle.
🚨BREAKING: Buzz Williams will be announced as the next coach at Maryland as soon as Willard to Nova is official.

Beard to A&M will follow suit.
Expect this all to come rather fast, just waiting on Willard to become official.
First by K.B.

We've been half joking about Bill Self but I'd at at least put in a call up there and see what the vibe is. That situations has kind of a Calipari feel to it where maybe both sides are over it.
Lutz looked weak at his previous stops too.ThatGirl said:
It was just his first season at OSU…and they won 2 NIT games before getting bounced. Lutz can't be judged on his brief OSU tenure, but what he did prior to that.
Ole Miss coach Chris Beard will be one of the primary candidates for the Texas A&M opening, source told @TheFieldOf68.

Will be interesting to see whether Beard would rather stay in Oxford or head to College Station.

Highly qualified for this job. Kind of a 'natural progression' type. Not splashy enough for some....bobinator said:
