In tonight's games the 2 teams probably are top 5 in payroll. He will NOT win unless we pay. He is not attractive enough to compete for players just on his coaching.

I don't think Florida is among the top 20 in NIL.

I'd be surprised if Houston is that high either. They've got some money on the floor but I doubt it's top five. I'd be surprised if it's top 15.

I'm not sure it's going to work. But I like the idea. We're not going to be at the top in payroll, so if we're playing similar basketball to everyone else then we'd need an absolutely incredible coach to be in the top third of the league regularly.

But if we have a coach that can recruit to a system, then maybe we've got a better chance. We don't need each piece to be elite, we just need the pieces to fit together.

Another big thing is VERY few teams are deep these days and it seems like this system is going to force teams to have to match depth. So maybe our top few players aren't as good, but maybe we can make up for it with depth.

But I like it because it's aggressive. Someone was going to give Bucky Ball a chance soon. I put him as a coach set for a jump on the coaching carousel thread a few months ago. I just never imagined we'd be the ones to go for it.

I'd guess they're significantly behind Arkansas, Kentucky, Baylor, Duke and North Carolina in payroll just off the top of my head.

That's my point as well. These rosters aren't constructed highly valued pieces. I'd guess just about all of the top 10 is comprised of schools that actually bring in the elite high school talent. Texas is almost assuredly amongst that group.

Rutgers and Kansas State also had huge payrolls this season.

I don't think you understand how bad the league is he's in. Anything top 100 coming from that league is insanely good.

He's been on this thing for days now. Apparently raising Samford by about 100 spots on average compared to his predecessors isn't impressive enough.

With this total ground-up reset we're gonna have to do I'll be shocked if we even make the dance by year 3. Much less a natty. That said, I'm not disappointed in the hire at all. He's gonna have to pull a couple of hidden gems out of the portal immediately to help convince kids that BuckyBall is gonna work. It'll be like the tariffs going on right now. Ugly at first. But in the long run, don't be surprised if it works

The year before Bucky got there they were in the 300s. Try harder.

I already did on another thread. His average is 80 spots higher than his predecessor, and it's 100 if you throw out the Covid season which was his first year as a collegiate head coach.

Look you guys are all smart guys. This is a reach. Like Early he has two years to do something or we are moving on. Next year is going to be bad. if he doesn't go to the tournament is 2nd year we are moving on.

We let Kennedy have five years to make the tournament and Buzz four but we're only going to give him two?

So it's only an average jump of 73 which include the Covid first year and statistical anomaly of 241 for Bucky in his first year.

Why is your goal to prove our new coach is no good? I'm doing everything I can find reasons to get excited right now and when you do the research he gives you a bunch of things to get excited about.

I just think he will have a short lease. This guy has no skins on the wall. We are the largest school in the country we cant wait for 4 or 5 years for this guy to show something.

Are you trying to win a national championship? if so he has 2 maybe 3 years to make a sweet 16

Did you watch the media Q&A or paid attention to college athletics recently? He straight up said that most of the portal entries got in early due to the House Settlement and that schools are spending more early due to the thought that they won't be able to in 2-3 weeks. He said getting the job when he did is equivalent to getting the job in the summer with one player on the roster. He even said that our roster won't be as balanced or competitive as he wants it to be, but it's not going to be because of lack of coaching or pushing by he and his staff. Also, what does our size have to do with anything? Just because we are the largest school automatically means we should win a championship?

They're so desperate for a natty, they're just hoping to be a flash in the pan at this point. I don't want to be a flash in the pan. I want to be the whole dang bacon slice. But that's only gonna happen if you give guys time to build. This silly notion that you can just portal in five guys who have never played together and win a natty in two years with a new head coach is absurd.
