It's not that hard to understand. Buzz talked a lot about culture and loyalty and integrity but now for the 3rd time in his career he's bailed on a school. We didn't get a "this was a hard decision, it was hard to leave" from him or any generic coach speak, he just bailed after all of his talk.
If he wants to bail, that's fine. But don't lecture us for 6 years about your values and then do it.
So yes, a lot of us are taking some pleasure in his failure because it's not fun to be lectured by a fraud.
And I've heard from people who were in the athletic dept for the bball team that his shtick about respect and empathy is all smoke and mirrors. He is a total a-hole and is the opposite of what he preaches behind the scenes.
Looking back it was obvious he was leaving after last year come hell or high water with how he had built a senior laden team and his six year stigma. His goal was to make a deep run in the tourney and cash out. Plus, he was recruiting players to Maryland while still employed here.
He made sure to not embrace our school while he was here and took almost a full starting roster with him to Maryland while leaving one hero to stand against his evil empire, Chris McDermott.
I hope he has many more losses in store for the terps!
