Game Preview
3-0! Our Fightin' Texas A&M Aggies are sitting undefeated in conference play after wins against LSU, @ Auburn, and Oklahoma. Next up is a huge road game in Knoxville against the Tennessee Volunteers at 6pm tonight.

As many have pointed out, this Tennessee team has plenty of size. They are led in the paint by #34 Felix Okpara, at 6'11 he's one of the best rom protectors in the conference and a solid rebounder. Aside from Okpara, they rotate a group of big men throughout the game regularly all with size. Their leading resounded however is 6'10 Nate Arment who's a projected lottery pick averaging 15 points and 6.4 rebounds. Ament started the year off strong but has given up the leading roll to Maryland transfer Ja'kobi Gillespie who runs the offense at the point guard position. He's averaging 18.3 points and 5.5 assists.

Gillespie is quick and loves to run in transition. With the their size they'll quickly push the ball up to him and he's a finisher at the basket who's not afraid of contact. He's also a good 3 point shooter. In the half court, they like to slow the pace and feed their bigs. Two average just under 10 points in Jaylen Carey and Jp Estrella. We'll need to stay strong near the rim or offer quick and effective back side help. A positive sign is their bigs aren't great at shooting free throws.

As for us, we'll need to play fast and take them out of the game in transition. It's a slightly different Tennessee team than we're used to playing the pst few years. They have some great size and aren't going to love or die by the three like they had in previous years. We're going to have to match their physicality down low. I think this is a game Agee lives for and thrives in. We're gonna need some other guys to step up and hold the paint down. We're also going to have to be disciplined with our help defense or be able to run a zone at times.

Offensively, we're going to be up against one of the stingier defenses in the conference. They are quick up too and have size down low. They will double or trap along the baseline to turn people over. Okpara is a big time shot blocker. This is a game you hope our three's are falling at a very high rate. That will help us stay or control the game. We're gonna need quick decisions quick passes. If we can grab some rebounds, we got to run. I want to see us impose our pace and control the game. It will be a game of runs, let's go silence Knoxville.

The Aggies are rolling, the naysayers are quiet, the pace is electric, hope, faith, momentum, is here. How will we respond? How will we carry these expectations? Two quad 1 road games are on deck against ut and tu. We already took one away at Auburn, it's time to take some more. Vegas, fans, and experts have already penciled in a loss. As my man Jamie Morrison would say, why not us? Let's impose our style, let's create chaos, let's drain some 3's, let's turn them over. I wouldn't count us out if we're down by 20, I'm not counting us out before the game begins. I believe. BTHO ut!!!!

We would both make about 15, Andy Garcia, clam chowder.

I say we cover the 9 points and. steal one outright from old Rick and his not so volunteers!

1. Definitely, Dominguez.
2. Seems like an easy one with our lack of bigs - Payne.
3. Not sure if it's a "cold weather soup" but I'll go with French Onion.

1. Ruben
2. Solo would be the most fun because his athleticism would be on full display and he'd create some turnovers as the midcourt guy on the trap. Andy would probably be the most beneficial because of his basketball intelligence, rebounding prowess, and decent outside shot.
3. Potato Soup

1) Do I get to warm up at all or do I start off cold? If I got like 20 or so warm up shots before the official count starts I think I could make 12-13, so probably still Dominguez but I'm giving myself a shot there. If I start off cold no chance.

2) This is obviously Payne or maybe Nebo. Any other answer is wrong. The delta between Payne/Nebo and our current bigs is significantly wider than any other position. Only other answer I'd potentially entertain is Emanuel Miller. Andersson Garcia would be a really good player in this system but he also plays the same position as our current best player so that make a big difference in our ceiling as a team? It's kinda the same with Wade Taylor, he's an all-time great for us, he'd be really good in this system and would probably shoot a much higher percentage, but is there just a massive gulf between him and the combo of Marcus Hill/Jacari Lane? I dunno. But there is definitely a massive gulf between Payne and Federiko/Vinson/Clemence.

3) French Onion, but it has to be the kind that you spend all day cooking.

Quick look at last three losses. UF out 3'd and out rebounded - huge advantage in shots. Arkie just out hustled with 17 more made FTs (2 more 3s). Illini killed them at 3 (almost 40% on 30 attempts).

UT pretty consistent in those games in 3 attempts about 15-20.

Hitting 3s looks to be a key and playing aggressively inside (into shot blockers) to draw fouls.

Figure we need 60+ shots. 30+ from 3 and need to make north of 37%. Oh and block out as much as possible - stay within about 10 in rebounds.

Illinois, Arkansas and Florida are also all huge teams too though, I don't know that we can learn much from those games because they can do things that we can't.

The one thing we don't know, and we're just going to have to see, but if it breaks our way could change this game entirely, is whether Agee can score on their big guys.

Sometimes a big guy playing a shorter but quicker forward can work to the shorter guys advantage. There was another thread the other day talking about one of Coleman's performances, I think it was against Auburn in the SEC Tournament, where their big guys couldn't stay in front of him.

If Agee can score one on one, then we might have something because if they have to double him then they're in trouble as long as we hit threes at our usual clip.

2. Payne
3. Caldo de Res

Prediction for tonight - UT gets some calls late and Ags lose by single digits.

Let's go Ags! Keep the energy super high the whole game!

UT will be trying dominate early, but their spirit could be broken down after the FLA game loss. If they go on a big early run, they will get their confidence back and be tougher to beat.

Both teams have a lot to prove here.

I still actually play pick up ball at our local church at noon. I used to be one of the best players out there. Now, I'm that mid level guy who just tries to blend in and I'm happy to be out there.

I used to be a pretty good player.

Honestly, Dominguez would hit 11 / 15 or close to 75%

I'm pretty sure I could still hit 15 / 50 or close to 30%. If I shot 15, I'd probably hit 3 or 4 depending if I was warmed up. If Doming shot 50, he'd hit 80% because he'd get in a good shooters rhythm.

Back when I was younger, I actually entered a few 3 point shooting contests at the local rec center and won one. I found the hardest thing about shooting 50 was fatigue. Those last 10 shots, the ball feels a couple pounds heavier. Shooting from a set is also harder. Shooting while your moving gives you body momentum on your shots.

That's the cool thing about Doming: he can catch and shoot without a dribble anywhere within 40 feet and he can do it at the end of games when you're tired. I never had the physical abilities to do that.

Anybody that can sub in for Agee. Maybe Solo?

Oh, French Onion soup is like crack to me.

Did I tell you that my Grandfather is in the Basketball Hall of Fame? You'd think I woulda been better!

All winners! Which garnishes do you prefer? I like bean sprouts, fresh jalapeños/serranos, cilantro, and Thai basil. Healthy dashes of hoisin and sriracha, too.

I learn towards beef though I mix which kinds. Learned to like pho with raw thin sliced beef into very hot broth but haven't seen that in a while.

There was a place that served with a red broth and seafood but haven't found a replacement since they dropped it!

1. Make it 20 3s for Ruben, and I'm concerned.
2. Solo - mostly for the emotional outbursts and shooting imaginary guns at guys.
3. Chicken Tortilla

- The Spaniard would hit all 15, so give it to him.

2. If you could add one Buzz player to this roster who are you adding?
- No Buzz players for me.

3. Favorite cold weather soup?
- Texas Red Chili for me. No beans. Cheddar cheese, onions, fresh jalapeno on the side.

For the good of humanity, someone had to get an official opinion on whether chili is a soup or a stew. Alas, it's nuanced.

According to the Food Network (who could be a better source?): "Whether chili is considered a soup or a stew depends on how it is prepared. If chili is prepared by braising meat, such as brisket or beef chuck, with beans and vegetables added toward the end of cooking time, it's considered a stew. If chili is made by browning ground meat, and then adding liquid, beans and vegetables, then it is a soup."

If it has beans, it is a soup.

If you can drink it from a cup, it's soup. That's what I was taught. That doesn't make chili a stew per se, but it can't be soup.
