Could have won it in regulation but didn't. And free throws cost us the game. A little Buzz ball snuck in towards the end, bit still hell of an effort on the road
Disappointed in losing. But wow what an effort. If this team takes a top 25 team to OT in THEIR house, they're one hell if a lot better than we started the year thinking they would be.

Yep. Both things can be true. A lot of trolls can't wrap their minds around that.
I'll actually agree with the premise that we are better than this Tennessee team. This Tennessee team is one of Barnes' worse, probably a one and done type team. All SEC road contests are going to be tough, and from a matchup standpoint, this was a rough one for us. We basically led the entire way in a hostile environment with a team that didn't allow us to play our quick game, I think we only cemented the belief amongst basketball knowers that we are going to be a problem the rest of the way.
This not a game we HAD to win. It was game we were looking to "steal." The loss stings though bc we basically threw it away in regulation with missed free throws down the stretch and our inability to box out to get a rebound. How many times did Tennessee miss the second free throw, get the rebound, and get fouled again to get sent back to the line? Hard fought game where we just ran out of gas. This team has heart, this team has grit. On to the next one
A few wild ass shots and careless turnovers in the first OT didn't help either

While this is a bummer I'm definitely encouraged. We kept the fight to the end. Out-sized, out-rebounded, out-broccoli-haired, but gave them fits.
Also should have been our ball at the end of regulation with 9 secs left
Pop Issacs had us in this game. 16 points (2nd), 4-11 for 3 (team 30%), 6 boards and 4 assists (16 total). In no way was he a reason we lost.
Look. I hated the guy when he was at Tech too but he's clearly a leader on this team and if we do anything this year, it will be in large part because of him.

Lane is always steady, but he was outstanding tonight.
Isaacs has generally been playing better and appears more engaged/bought in than earlier in the season.

Missed free throws killed us and too many just taking the fade away 26 foot three pointer. Its still a great effort against a very good team and we got killed on the boards and still shouldve won that game. Bucky is dam good and our guys kept us in a game.
Having Dominguez in to rebound on those free throws at the end of regulation instead of a second big like Vinson is a learning moment. Gotta get the board first before worrying about scoring

I will always wonder why refs suddenly decide to totally change the tempo and tone of a game. I swear with 8 minutes left they started calling EVERYTHING and it derailed the Ags.
I resolve in 2026 to be more tolerant and respectful of trolls and emotionally fragile, overly pessimistic posters so they don’t run crying to the mods and have me banned for three days.

We've even benefited from it at home in the past few years. It gets a crowd going. Winning on the road as a result is hard
Our defense is now officially more highly ranked in efficiency than the offense is.

We didn't play near our best game; this was one of the games most recently that we haven't played well as far as shots made, rebounding, free throws, etc., but we gave a lot of effort.
Make some free throws, get a couple rebounds, and this game was ours.
The referees certainly didn't help, but we made too many mistakes in the end and didn't make enough shots.
I am greatly encouraged. And, for me to say that, that's something.

This game makes me immensely thankful for the Auburn win last week. Two Tuesday gut punches in a row would've been tough. Take out the frustration in Austin, Bucky

Before the game, I honestly didn't even expect to be in this game. After Tennessee got their asses kicked by Florida by 24, I expected them to come out with a fire! We took them out of what they like to do. They rarely took the ball down low, where they had the greatest advantage. I have to admit, Bucky is a great head coach.

I'd say they were calling a bunch anyway. 10 left and both teams in the bonus. I think Rick just said **** it, play REALLY physical if they're going to call touch fouls. They were mugging us on ball and off and figured they wouldn't call them all and it was a ton harder for the smaller team.

Bucky is a great coach but another really dumb decision at the end of regulation cost us. He subbed in our guards up by 1 with Tennessee on the line. They missed but we could not secure the rebound. We almost lost then and there because of this. You have to keep the bigs in, get a rebound and call time out to sub in your guards for the last shot, right? And we had 2 timeouts as well. So saving a timeout was not really needed. What are you doing subbing in guards early? We get that rebound, we probably win.

I'd like to see body language improvement and elevated leadership from a few of our players, the younger guys and bench contributors feed off of that energy.
