Our team is good but size and overall skill can't compete.

Arkansas has a bunch of dudes that can straight up play. Those mid range jumpers look so clean. Their points seemed to come easy.

Almost all of our points seem so much harder to get. Buzz like except it's not bad scheme.

Bucky has squeezed so much potential out of this squad with his scheme, but these players are just not talented enough to do it on their own. (Size is a huge factor)

What we have seen is not so much an adjustment to Bucky's system(maybe a little) I think it comes down to conditioning. I believe we maybe catch a Florida or Arkansas had we played them early in the season.

The truly great teams are just too good and will not get worn down at this point in the season. We saw the same thing the last few years with Buzz and his help defense. It just wasn't enough.

Buckys teams need to shoot at a great three point tick to be successful with the pace we play.

All 9 of our wins are against the bottom 8 teams in the conference. Just can't quite get over the hump against more talented, more athletic SEC teams (but we did come darn close 3 times).

I don't think we learned anything tonight we didn't already know. We've had problems with big athletic teams all season because we are neither.

But just scrap and scratch our claw our way into the field somehow and this season is a huge success.

Then we need to go find some athletes.

This team just doesn't have the size or athleticism. They play hard and Bucky is an incredible coach, but that can only take you so far. A&M reminds me of an amazing mid major playing in a power conference.

UT was the one we needed. Had it won. Can't get rebounds off FTs twice and lose. Tough one.

We have more money than Arkie. Go pay for more size and talent.

Don't think I'll conclude that bull**** about other teams in the SEC just yet. Especially considering how football season turned out.
Too much help from the crooked refs in this league made them look a lot better than they were.

Tonight I learned we are capable of looking special-needs (that last 10 minutes of 1st half especially). I was getting happy to see us miss jump shots just because I was tired of seeing turnovers and missed layups.

Pretty much. Bucky is most definitely not at fault for this loss. These dudes missed a ton of layups tonight and throw it to the other team or out-of-bounds nonstop. Just a skill deficient on this roster, which is why the lack of consistency. Because they can definitely be really good and beat anyone on the right night.

We can get a win or two in the tourney if we are a 7,10,11,12 seed if we are 8/9 we win one but then get destroyed by a Arizona, Michigan, UConn, UH type team that will bully us.

I don't think Walmart is stroking the NIL checks, they are huge donors to the university in general. It's the Tyson folks who are paying the players. We don't have that level of Aggies?

And having a Natty winning HOF head coach certainly helps.
I love what Bucky could eventually become, but Coach Cal's a proven commodity leading their charge

This

Was just thinking last night that we are built like a mid major, a team with good shooters but lacks size and athleticism

Pig pumps all of their money into basketball. Look at how terrible the football team is. The baseball team even gets pushed aside. Dave Van Horn had to start an LLC to have donors send money to for buying players because Yurachek wouldn't help. They're all in on basketball. Overall, yes, A&M has more money in the couch cushions than Pig has.

Obvi some due to qual competition, but our forced turnover rate has dropped by around 50% since around Tennessee-Georgia stretch. Opp points per poss, our free throw rate, def eff fg % have similarly gotten worse.

It's our defense mostly that has gotten abused

Also in the last several games, except ole miss, Ruben has basically been the worst guy on the floor for either team. His fall off really stretches back to around South Carolina. He shouldn't be getting minutes except set pieces.

Calipari wouldn't have taken that job if NIL money wasn't there. He's dependent on playing well-paid talent from all of his years at UK

Maybe it's just me, but I think its wild that a food processor and a low end retailer/grocery chain have so much disposable income to throw around at things like this.

Not that it's all going to basketball players but I think Wal Mart's annual revenue is equivalent to roughly 2% of the entire US GDP.

Correct and it isn't close.

Additionally, Calipari was promised quite a bit 'more' NIL which was part of him taking the job.

Below is just a part of it, but they have twice the revenue we have....

I used 2024 as the numbers are easier to find...

Arkansas

Key 2024-2025 Financial Details:
  • Total Revenue: $25.4 million (highest in 16 years of reported data).
  • Revenue Increase: Up $2.67 million from the previous fiscal year.
  • Profit Context: Despite record revenue, the profit was affected by higher expenses.
  • Contextual Data: For the 2023 fiscal year, the program generated $19.3 million in revenue with $13.8 million in expenses. $5.5 Net Income from MBB
Texas A&M

Key Financial Details (FY2024):
  • Total Revenue: $12,219,257
  • Total Expenses: $14,347,859 ($12.2M rev - $2.1M loss)
  • Net Income/Loss: -$2,128,602
A&M did actually make money in 2025, $1.4 million surplus in the 2025 fiscal year

I am pretty sure this is the first time A&M has been in the black in MBB.

Also, found this...

They give $266K per player just from rev share. No idea what our allocation is.

Calapari took the job with the understanding that there would be more than enough NIL for him to have top tier talent. I believe the other poster is correct that it is Tyson and Walton money IIRC the money has gotten so the grand children and they are all in the high 9 figures and one of them is writing big checks to make pig basketball relevant again
The Big money Pig donors are not important just that a group of them decided that they could afford Cal and Top tier talent and went out and made it happen.

Those 15 turnovers (mostly from lazy passes) really hurt us tonight. That last stretch in the first half was very frustrating.

Maybe it's just me, but i didn't think most were lazy per se. I thought over aggressive - hero passes. They did to us what we try to do. They sped us up. And we made the mistakes.

Oh. That and 69% second half shooting.

It was a mix of lazy and hero passes

And not being able to get stops I. The 2nd half was probably even more frustrating

Arkansas is just a better team than we are with better, bigger, more athletic players

It was like watching a scrappy mid major vs a top 4 seed from a power conference in the dance
