Rylan Griffen's recent conversation on the Answering the Call 12th Man Foundation podcast shared more information about the philosophy of the system. Rylan said, if you look at the numbers, offense is better within the first 6-8 seconds of the shot clock, and the later the shot clock the worse it is. He said better offense is early in the shot clock. They get down court as quickly as they can so they're not playing against a set defense and shoot quickly. As an example, frontcourt player Rashaun Agee who shoots 20% from 3 has 73 3pt attempts. Most other teams run halfcourt sets with slower tempo and that would not happen, but in this offense it does. The system is based on early shot attempts. Rylan also mentions ghosting as an offensive tactic of the system. Looking back, I think ghosting led to many open 3s for him, Dominguez, Isaacs; and lately Clemence when he doesn't pass the ball instead. I understand more after listening to Rylan on the podcast.
