based on fans ans school ROI i am not sure there has been a more successful sport at A&m over the last two decades.

This is the reason Bucky came here because he is smart enough to know that we are the perfect place to build this and there is no tradition in basketball. We have never been past the sweet 16 and i believe we are going to fly by that in the next 4/5 years with Bucky in charge. He is coming here to win a title and he fully believes that and I do as well. We are so lucky to have him and he will get it done and we are gonna be a formdable team next year. I will always remember this team as what they did was incredible without their best player and in essence playing a 5 guard lineup every game.

We finished tied for 4th in the SEC 11-7 preseason pick 13th to last.
Won on the road at Texas, Auburn, Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia, missing others but what a year.

Won first round NCAA game got beat by one of the best teams in the nation.

So excited for a full year of Buckyball and even recruiting along with who we already have committed.

Support was pathetic I was jealous of what Nebraska had there . I was even jealous of what UH had there but not all that great considering the success they have had recently . I hope Bucky will help solve the problem but if he doesn't he won't be here long which is a shame imo.

Observations from yesterday

Cougs had better length and height
Cougs played with a lot of discipline- they never allowed themselves to be sped up by our press. They broke it , then would set up their half court offense. They didn't get sucked into a hurried transition game
Our 3 point shooters were well guarded leading to empty possessions or Rashaun shooting from distance- lower percentage shots and no chance for him to rebound

Finally Nebraska fans fully committed to their team. A program with ZERO tournament wins essentially bought out a road venue and willed their team to a Sweet 16. We couldn't even muster a thousand fans to an arena 2 1/2 hours from DFW. Pretty embarrassing IMO and definitely doesn't help us moving forward as a program.

Nebraska has a good coach now.
And he's worked to build them up into a pretty good team.

But let's not act like they've been getting that kind of fandom since his arrival.

They're also a 4 seed, so they had reasonable expectation of winning round one. Tons of fans are making that trip just to witness history.
When we were a 3 seed in '16 we had a great crowd in OKC because we were good and fans had the expectation of getting to see two games and two wins. 10 seeds just aren't getting a lot of fans to travel unless it's a Mizzou situation where it is in your backyard and there's no travel required.

We had a terrible crowd in OKC in 2016.Aggies don't follow basketball. 3600 Ags at the very max.

"Yep. I really thought about it. Just not worth it. Long drive and a notable expense especially short notice when we're predicted to lose."

Pretty sure the definition of a fan is someone who supports his team through thick and thin. If I only traveled to support the Ags when they were favored there would be a lot of games I would have missed.

The NCAAs are a lot of fun. I enjoy watching competitive basketball ( there wasn't as much at the OKC regional this year ). I enjoy watching the Aggies particularly the style of ball Bucky coaches.

I don't understand half ass support . I hate the way the 12 MF prioritizes football over all other sports and their season ticket holders. I will enjoy Bucky while he's here. The attitudes expressed by many on this board lead me to believe as soon as he has success someone else will appreciate him far more than we do. And that will be a very sad day

Latent post. Born in Nebraska. Deep ties to this day and Ag grad. The schools have very siimilar vibes and love them both, but there is no place like Nebraska. The wife said Nebraska could sell out a chess match and she's not from Nebraska and not wrong.
Are the Huskers good enough to win the natty? Nope. Just beat Iowa.

Ler's see what happens with the crowd in Houston. Regardless, the Iowa-Husker rivalry is deep regardless of the sport.

As good as our guards were on the press vs Saint Mary's, they were equally as very bad as group offensively. And we have never been solid on the defensive glass.

The writing was on the wall that a well coached, big, talented, tough, disciplined UH team was going to mop the floor with us.

I wasn't going to drive from Bryan to watch that.

I flew to Lexington for 2007 (and was in attendance for the Sweet 16 game v Memphis in SA)
I flew to Spokane for 2010.
I drove to OKC for the UNI game in 2016.

I look forward to going again at some point.

The problems that other posters have cited re the 12th Man Foundation and basketball are on point.
