A&M is the largest and wealthiest school in the SEC. In the long run, those things correlate with winning.

Our endowment is greater than the next 5 SEC schools combined.

Think we're a bunch of hicks? 80% of our students are from DFW, Houston or Austin/S.A.. Houston and DFW are larger than any city in the SEC footprint. Which means that A&M's student population is more urban than any other in the SEC. College Station metro area is about 200,000. Larger than most others in the SEC.

Hmmm...I see four teams on that list with recent national championships in football. Maybe having the biggest endowment doesn't correlate with football success at all, given the lack of even CCG appearances in Aggieland its last decade in the Big XII.

Wrong, there is a strong correlation. The biggest outlier is A&M which only has 3, but should have many more given the resources.

Other factors that correlate, like size, prestige, and geography, A&M has in spades as well.

some do, most don't, we don't. But an endowment is an indicator and a contributor to prestige, perception, and power. Which are important to athletic success, no debate.

I don't think you know what you are talking about. How would your endowment help you anymore than it did in your former conference? I expect you were only behind Texas in that regards.

What matters way more than endowment is how much money your athletic department generates and is willing to spend.

I would be interested to know what A&M's endownment was compared to the Big12 schools. I would imagine it was very comparable to how it measures out with the SEC programs.

So-so argument. If so, then Princeton, Yale, Harvard, Columbia et al. would have big time Football programs. Your argument is good with: Stanford and Texas and Michigan fit the bill with endowment = football success.
TAMU has the tenth largest endowment, not bad company to be in though. TAMU should be doing much better with your argument, and we are not b/c of poor decisions leading to poor outcomes with coaching hires from 2002-2011.

Michigan really hasn't been that much better. In the last 15 years, they've won 2 Out-Right Conference Championships, 3 Conference Co-Championships, and 1 National Championship.

Texas has 1 National Championship in the last 41 years. Michigan has 1 National Championship in the last 63 years. Stanford has 1 National Championship in the last 86 years.

You guys are too hung up on endowment, I said it was one correlator. Stadium size, school size, proximity to recruiting grounds are important. A&M has all this too.
It's been 20 years since we had a top notch coach, hence the drop off.
