I don't love the hire but I don't think this is a Mark Stoops situation. Skip has taken that team to within a game of a natty. Stoops couldn't sniff a natty's panties.
I will say this -- the dude can coach pitching, and with what we have returning we will be elite in that respect. His assistant and hitting coach hires would be really important though.
Not real sure how I feel about it but it sounds like Earley would entertain returning and he would likely be able to keep the band together.
In any case, he offensive hires would have to be elite.

I'm on the fence about this. OU is a perennial contender, so if it is him, I'm going to take a wait and see approach.
Blackwell writings about OU do not have the same confidence with someone like Luicci. He tends to steal information from unvetted sources

Agreed. Were his offenses mediocre because he didn't have the resources to get better players? Or is he just a small ball guy? That will determine if he's just Childress 2.0.

If Earley was basically innocent and comes back to Aggieland and unloads on Schloss, that would be something to behold.
Sips might have ruined their program for a few years with this move that they thought was real slick.

Skip would be a solid hire if true. He wasn't in the big 4 in my opinion(Vitello, O'Connor, Heefner, Jarrett), but he's right there in that next tier of good coaches. Guy can recruit, has Omaha experience, and would do really well here with our resources.

The guy didn't make it out of the regional the past two years. Outside the one run in Omaha where he was **** during the regular season, his entire tenure is mediocre at best. What are we doing if this is our guy!
