So...what about the other first basemen transfers that are supposed to come in? Does this imply that there will be some minds being (or already been) changed...?

It's great having an overabundance of riches, but how do we get room in the lineup for all these big pieces...?
It's called competing. Plus Tracy is expected back so we have lots of options everywhere.

What other 1B is supposed to come in from the portal?
Bergevin is pure 1B or DH.

Henseler is 3B but some mentioned 1B with GG staying put.

One thing for sure -- Earley and often, dingers will be hit.

Ok, I don't *know* anything and I'm not projecting anything. ...but from a roster standpoint this is confusing to me at best. So I'm going to project the BEST case scenario and not play the "who are we losing" game.

Pitcher:
Catcher: Appel (or ??)
1B: Kash
2B: Henseler
3B: Grahovac
SS: Camarillo/Kent
LF: Sorrell
CF: Laviolette
RF: Bergevin

If Kent stays, and the other transfer commits all stick (Henseler, Bergevin, Kash) then we have a few log jams that I don't think you're able to work through on one year rentals.

1B: Kash/Bergevin/Binderup
3B: Grahovac/Henseler

We have 5 guys there (maybe 4 if Bindy is biding his time) that you have to get into the lineup, and two of them will have to move positions. Maybe that's Grahovac to OF and Henseler at 3B, but that doesn't help resolve the logjam at 1B because then neither of them can man a corner OF spot.

I hope not. But my first thought is that we are tight on corner/big boy spots unless one of these dudes can catch. Regardless, big get if we get him to campus.

Bergevin is allegedly going to play some corner OF during summer ball. Can't imagine he's doing that unless we've asked him to.

You don't withdraw from MLB Draft.

You can send the signal that you won't sign, so teams don't waste a pic, but many players in college will get drafted and decide whether to go.

Well alrighty then. That's another thing I did not see coming. He is listed on Fairfield's site at 6' 4" and 250 lbs. Not everyday you see one of those in the corner.

Still can't imagine GG wants to play C, but that's another way to get all these bats in the lineup...

trying to get Kash and Matt B in the lineup probably takes up the DH spot.

Not "withdraw" in the traditional sense but make it known what his intentions are going in so the likelihood of him getting drafted is low due to his asking price.

Until Sorrell and Kent announce they are back, gotta operate as if they're gone.

That opens up LF, DH and 2B potentially depending on how Schott feels in the outfield

Assuming Tab Tracy is coming back, and all signs at the moment confirm he is, he can compete for a spot. Fastest kid on team(yes, faster than TC), has a RF arm.

We are building a wealth of talent, good problems to have.

He can, but would we rather have him or Schott running around out there? Schotts defender isn't bad, but if you're putting your best lineup together it's probably GG-3B, Kash -1B/DH, Matt B- 1B/DH, and Schott in LF

He has a few loose connections to the program. Kash was at tu his fish year, but that was prior to Longley.
He's a Kelly Catholic School grad, where FTA C/O '99 Jason Tyner is the head coach, but looks like they also missed each other by a year.

For those that don't know, he was on Texas' roster in '22 and was basically told he wasn't going to see the field, this the transfer to Tech. Having watched him the last 2 years, he's a great get for sure. However, he set the bar so high in his first year at Tech that this past season seemed like a whimper, despite his stat line. Some of that was due to Tech having such a down year, and not a lot of protection in the lineup, no doubt. He had a lot of clutch moments in '23, but really seemed to struggle against good pitching in '24. I have no doubt he will still be gunning for the Horns next year and I think yall will be very pleased. Seems to be a good kid and never really heard anything bad about him.

It goes this way every year at every competitive program across the country. We are accumulating depth. If you don't like the competition, you don't belong. There won't and there shouldn't be enough spots for all the guys that can play to get in the lineup. That's how you end up with guys like Kent coming off the bench and hitting over .400 in the postseason. Baseball rosters have always been very fluid with the severely limited scholarships and high school players being eligible for the draft. Add in COVID waivers, NIL, and a coaching change and things are even more so right now. There's really no use in fretting about how it all shakes out because I guarantee the coaching staff isn't trying to write a lineup card right now, they are just trying to get the right guys in the door and then let the chips fall where they may.
