OK... hear me out...

Instead of a warning track around the field, a lazy river. People pay a premium to get an "inner tube seat" where they float around the field the whole game.

I don't ever wander the full concourse either. Once we there, we only leave our seats for the bathrooms or concessions. I wish we had vendors selling at least water/Gatorade in the stands. I'd rarely leave my seat.

I hear a lot of folks listing a complete concourse all the way around the field as a must have, but I don't understand why? Why is that a good thing? I don't think I have ever been to a park that I made an effort to walk the entire concourse.

Just wondering why this is something so many think is a must have. $80MM should get us a pretty sweet upgrade.
My polar opposite! If I visit a park with a wraparound concourse, I make it a point to walk all the way around! I think it would be so cool to walk around Olsen.

Wrigley Field doesn't have a complete walk around concourse and neither does Fenway or Dodger Stadium. MMP does however...

Two ferris wheels - one behind LF and one behind RF. Let's push CStat to be the new Omaha.

Elevate the tracks and move them over the fans in the outfield. Sheer terror wondering if the train will fall off the tracks.

I'm guessing
1) because section 12 is currently not connected to the main area.
2) likely have seating on both sides of the batter eye, so you need to connect both to main area.
3) access from LF seats to RF concessions or RF seats to LF concessions.

Honestly, if you are going to have seating/SRO in the right field and the left field, then a walkway connecting the two doesn't really add that much cost.

So 360 concourse is really just a proxy for ~360 seating/SRO.

Oh my goodness I hated that ferris wheel. As someone very easily distracted by flashing lights, I was probably watching that thing as much as I was watching the game. It wasn't even operating, just flashing lights. Those lights need to be turned off.

Walking back to the parking lot with tired kids was a serious pain in the ass with that thing flashing.

I remember when the board of regents rejected building Reed because it was too much money... at $50 mil.

Same here. I've been to a significant number of mlb stadiums (trying to get to all of them) and I make a point to try and Watch innings 4-9 from different vantage point. I would definitely do this in Olsen

I think of something like Huntington Park 10k seater in the minors. $99 mil after adjusting for inflation so "somewhat" near our range. I think I heard Albert's talked about stress tests being done on the existing concrete right? If so that will help costs in the expansion if all is well. I could see aggie alley turning into something like they did here in right outfield but on our Left. The batting cages would have to move slightly eat up some parking lot space but they did talk about player enhancements too so I could see that working out. Just some thoughts.

They have. Top Golf in RF? Cool!

Lots of inflation since then. They approve 80 mil buildings pretty regularly now.

The most recent plans haven't been made public. Big money donors contributing the renovation might have seem something.

I've heard that the plans include:
1. Concourse all the way around the field.
2. Additional seating along 3B line because of shade.
3. Some sort of small green monster/crawford boxes in left field.
4. Picnic, Tables with umbrellas, grilles in the outfield.
5. Multi story player development amenities along 1B side.

Some of this may have changed but my last conversations with Coach S mentioned the above. It was also mentioned that because we couldn't expand the footprint that a lot of the additions would be vertical which is why the player development stuff was stacked and placed along 1B side so that 3B side / LF could maximize seating.

Walking completely around baseball stadiums is one of my favorite things to do. Been to a few MLB and college parks and it's just different for baseball stadiums.

Football and basketball stadiums are not that interesting. But baseball is just different.

Low for a full stadium build but this is a reno.

Not really. Most of the new stadiums were built for less. But they were a few years ago.
Not based on the last conversation we had on this.

Most comparable stadiums (size and scope) most recently built were 2 minor league parks and they cost closer to $120-$150M. You can look up the last thread if you want the specifics.

Spend most of the money on the 3rd base side: player development, offices, etc, with a double-deck grandstand (with suites) all the way to the corner. Standing-room plaza where Aggie Alley is, with restrooms and concessions behind the scoreboard and batters eye. Replace Sec. 12 with berm seating and play area all the way to the batters eye. Add grandstand seating, restrooms and concessions, for student seating, where the berm and play area currently are.
I think you're on the right track as far as best bang for the buck.

Maximize fixed seating dow left field line to take advantage of shade and build outs of player development and amenities even if it means eating up some of the parking lot. Leave right field line mostly as is. Tie in outfield and add what you can (especially infrastructure like restrooms and concessions.

But we're not building a new stadium.

Take UT for example. 95 M is taking them from A to B

I think it's safe to say this is a much larger scope since we already took care of much of the needs in our renovation ~12 years ago.

Arkansas did this for 27 M a few years ago. We need our version of this. It'll likely eat up some parking. I think the original plan was to expand where the cages are now.

Between this and gutting out the current locker room, weight room, coaches offices, etc. I think that's probably half the budget.

The rest needs to be simple - get more seats down each line, make the concourse go all the way around, and build up on the left field line so there are more seats in the shade.

A slightly better version of this.

They could probably save money by not rotating the stadium like that.

Planned to start after the last pitch of the Supers in 2025.

It is being done during a combination of Daylight Savings Time and planet alignment so the extra hour will provide the time to rotate the stadium with help from the gravitational pull of the planets.

Timeline I've heard is starting at the end of next season 2025 and going to the start of the following season 2026, then starting up at the end of 2026 and finishing before 2027 season.

It's also my understanding that player development will be along 1B line behind the sitting area and maximizing seating in shade along 3B line / LF.

$80mil basically just expands seating along both baselines, adds suites, and improves the practice facilities (aka air conditioned batting cages).

Their not tearing down Blue Bell and rebuilding from scratch.

Architectural design should and is going to focus on unique elements that bring notority to the design itself.

Basically, it should be designed as the top baseball stadium in college or at least considered one of them. And Blue Bell isnt too bad right now. I expect it to blow us away.
