Trev has shown that he won't fire G to save 500K. So,I don't see him firing Earley this year or even next year. He might let him ride out the,contract like I'm assuming he will for G and Joni

You missed the entire point. If Trev is the cost slashing bookkeeper he is known to be, then he won't make a move on Earley this year. Just like he would have waited 3 weeks to fire Scott Frost and save $7.5M. But he did not wait 3 weeks to save $7.5M, bc he got told by the money guys to do something else.

If Travis Dabney at the 12MF calls him and says "I've got the money to move this for you", Trev will do it.

That has not happened for G, or Joni (yet, but it's early), but Trev doesn't call all the shots.

I'll be the first one to tell you the Trev contract (particularly the buyout, and full guarantee) was idiotic. And there is a reason Dabney, who was publicly in the running for the AD job, isn't calling the shots either. Money gets moved around.

But you certainly cannot say "here's how Trev does things", without ignoring how he handled Frost, when he was told to, for a crazy amount of money.

Trev did not change his leadership since 3 years ago.

When the money guys tell him they'll give him the money, he'll do it.

And we all know that the 12MF moves various amounts of money over to the AD every single year at their own volition to balance the books in whatever way.

Needs to be fired this year. Fire Alberts with him. You don't let the players dictate a coaching hire at this level.

If Trev has to beg somebody for 500K to fire a soccer coach or even worse he has to be told by somebody else to fire a coach, then he's useless.

You must have a fundamental misunderstanding of how the AD books work.

They run a deficit, and have a state and fiduciary duty to keep that in check. The 12MF kicks over whatever they want to.

No AD can really do anything, without their respective foundation kicking over money.

That's not an A&M thing. Thats an every major university thing.

(But yes, I do think it's useless that the 12MF kicked over the $4M it cost to buy out Trev, plus $2M/year, when we could have bought out G, Joni, and Earley for about that, while hiring a cheaper bean counter.)

If A&M misses the NCAA tournament this season, would that be the first time a pre-season #1 ranked team had ever fallen off a cliff like that? If that were to happen, how could you possibly keep Earley whom was an unproven first year HC to begin with? He would never be able to recruit back to the same talent level he had this year. Earley would be finished and any waiting would just be delaying the inevitable. An experiment hire that was tried and quickly and clearly failed.

It is rare when a school has to pull the rip cord after only 1 year on a HC but this would be that rare case. A lot of empathy for Earley whom seems a good guy, if it plays out that way, but that is the way it'd have to play out. He has to somehow turn this team around in the next couple a months enough to at least provide some hope that he can handle the job or it is over.

To be clear. He was great coach. I didn't comment on his character. He left for more than having a friend as AD again. That's our character as a school for well over 100 years.

The hire of Earley was to cement the roster pretty much as it was and no one here can deny the fans were excited. I don't care about the fact you have buyer's remorse now.

The same fans often suggest going younger. Well…we did. Going younger means you give the hire time. You can't fire annually or you look like Al Davis. And you can't hire who you want after you fire several times or after firing high character leaders because they don't win enough. That's why our contracts all guaranteed.

Our fans think they know what they are talking about. Generally they don't. Just look at the discussion on who is in charge. To be clear: Texas runs the state. They get what they want. We settled for a hire with a near term strategy that was economic hire like Sherman. Because the funding isn't there.

I'm going to repeat that last one: fans don't fund A&M the way Texas fans do. Welcome to reality.

Your first line is the one our fans struggle with the most. Schloss is a great coach. He is a top 3 coach in fact. We will not replace him most likely. We will have to win via NIL money towards players. Which by all accounts we did. I think the current coaching staff is just too much to overcome.
